In a 65 valiant is it possible to replace the timing set with out pulling the motor whats the beat way of going about
i did it in a 68 dart, pull the grill, radiator, bumper, and the hood hatch mount thing... should be just about a straight shot after that...In a 65 valiant is it possible to replace the timing set with out pulling the motor whats the beat way of going about
No clue what ever works well.
I've done a few but never had to pull the grille or bumper....maybe if you're changing the cam you would. Set the timing at TDC, pull the radiator, fan, outer crank pulley (if it has one), balancer (with a proper puller...don't pry on the outer ring!) front pan bolts and T.C.bolts, and cam sprocket bolt. Spray WD-40 on the crank sprocket and work it off with a pry bar or puller along with the cam sprocket and chain. Install the new set, spin the engine around by hand a couple of revolutions, Degree it, and reinstall everything.
Just get a standard single roller.
You know im not sure. Ive never had a problem with http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/New-...r_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c1332d3ef
in a standard application. If you are going with some more agressive upgrades get the JP piece. Its a very nice chain.
This is what I plan to run.

Not sure why the autozone piece only lasted you 6k miles, but ive never had problems with the above chain.Hell ive seen people run em on slants pushing 20+lbs of boost, and some n/a slants making over 250 crank hp.I also had a buddy that ran a 20 buck autozone chain for over 60,000 miles. My point being you dont NEED to spend big bucks on a chain.
Only slightly:snakeman:
BTW one baaddd looking slant!
In a vw that's nothing, I'm running 274@50 there are others that are above 290
Your in carlsbad to bad the track is no more. I'd blow your doors off
