To Stroker a 360 or Not

Take it ezy rumble fish .... by any chance is your middle name 'Gooba' cos that is what you are ...... it's dudes like you when asked how a posi trac on Plymouth super bird work you answer "it just does!!!""" Hahaha LMAO Gooba !!!!!
Sometimes. I admit, it's jus easier to do so and when your tired, replies get funnier.

I read the whole thread .
Very entertaining indeed !!
Do whatever you want !!
You want a bunch more torque at low rpm ?
Build a stroker !!!
Do you want to go quicker of faster ?
Change to low gears for quickness and higher gears for speed !!!
You want effecientcy ?
Build everything together with the right parts !!
Find a reputable mopar builder and tell him what you want he can and will help you !!!
Want help along with hip waiters and entertainment ?
Post a thread about what to do on forabodiesonly !!!!
Good luck !!

If you want a good torque and hp increase on a budget, this is my thinking. Go with a good 5.9 Magnum running motor, put a small performance torque cam in it,(you will need a roller cam with a long nose like for a 1990 motor) a cross wind intake and the timing cover , pump and pulleys off your 318, and it will bump up the power fairly well. The next stage in power upgrades IMHO would be EQ heads with a little bit of port and valve work. Next would be add a striker kit and a bit bigger cam. Ask yourself just how much you want to spend on hp, the price per hp goes up a lot faster than the increase in hp.

Don't know if anyone asked but what heads would be used on either the 360 or Stroker? J.Rob

You are right, this thread is like a frog in a blender.

a good friend went with a 360 stroked to 408.A lot of torque and tire spin in any gear.Eventually it blew up and he went back to a warm 340..he did not like the stroker at all.
Depends on what you want

Good lord it sounds like these 408 strokers are very explosive, no way to control the power.......either on or off like a light switch! No way to moderate things with a careful foot.....
Just mash it, WOW, can't wait to get mine up and running:)

Well if you if you drive like a maniac and rev the piss out of the motor everywhere you go, of course the motor won't be happy. The good about a stroker is the power isn't as peaky as a smaller engine. More usable power, the engine masters video shows that. Like I said I'm a previous post, run the teen for a while and build up stuff on the side.

Did anyone bother to look at the dyno sheet that I THINK IQ posted. Big, flat torque curve. You don't need a strokes to make a driveable piece.

With all that stroke you'll almost never have enough cylinder head.

I hope the Carcraft 360 build by IMM gets published soon. Most people that want a responsive daily driver/cruiser would be happy with the torque and power it will show, I am almost certain. Then there are those nut cases (thinking of myself here first!) that too much is just right, and stuff a 535 BB in a 65 Dart and hope to hook it up on the street. That didn't work well, LOL. It did post an 11.05 on its' first 1/4 mile pass, though!
Mexmarine, in a nut shell, if you want lots of response down low, and the feeling of instant torque, go more cubes and tight converter, moderate cam, small tube headers, moderate sized carb. Think how a 440 and stock automatic would work in a very light car, as an example. That would be one way to build it. The faster you want to ultimately go, the more compromises will have to be made for the same cubes. If you like the way a high strung motor sounds, and don't mind losing that instant , way down low response, you can consider a looser converter and bigger cam. I hope this gives you something to chew on. Like I said before, speed (HP)costs money. So does extra torque, but not as much.
From what I read on here it is pretty hard to beat a 5.9 Magnum motor warmed over for best return on the $$ spent. Here is one idea of a low budget build. The stock rods and crank are plenty strong for most applications, overbore replacement pistons can be had cheap that don't need a rebalance, and if you are really cash poor a Thermoquad carb on a stock cast intake, using EQ heads with the right bolt pattern, ought to make a very nice piece for the $$. The largest investment would be in basics, like the overbore and pistons, and good head castings. If you are lucky enough to find a very good 5.9, you might not even have to mess with the overbore, making it even cheaper.
