Hey I have a 727 tranny I need to know what the year is per the ID and even what it came out of if possible? I pulled this from a 70 340 duster back in 77 that was crushed at a junk yard from a horrific rear end wreck. But am not sure it was the origional? Car had a lod of mods on it. :headbang:

You could have kept the part about the 340 Duster being crushed to yourself... :sad1:
 
If the first number is a 3 instead of an 8 so the number was 3681862 the trans would be a mid 70's 727.

Man you guys are awesome! Thaks Chuck, it is a faded number looked like an 8 but I think it is a 3.

Yeah sorry about that, I was sick when I saw how bad it was crushed SleeperScamp. I was in my 20s back then and these roamed the street a lot in the 70's in socal. Also thanks for the link and doc. I new it was not the opriginal trans behind the 340, car had a dana 60 rear end, but was damaged. I shoulda got the 340 for $100 back then too. Man I wish I was Marty in Back to the Future huh :headbang: :headbang:

So it appears it is a 74-75 trans from a 340 or 360 HD application. Bet it came out of a Dodge truck. I own a 78 D150 with a 318-3 truck motor and it has a beefy 727 with the larger planetaries and drum clutch stacks too.
