Trick flow noob ?s

Damn that sucks. Wonder if a full rebuild at some place like RAS would make them last longer.

what are you spring pressures?

I spoke with Gary at RAU
He said he would happy to check them over for me at no charge.
I might do that.
He said to re Bush them and hard chrome the shafts would be $ 380
But after finding the roller tips wearing flat I don't think their worth spending any more money on.
The cam is just a comp. Xe 268 h
The heads have the entry level trick flow
120 seat 320 open or pretty close to that.

Thanks for that information. First I've heard of issues on the PRW ones. I'll be sure to verify my oil supply and keep an eye on them.
Don't want to divert the original thread throwing guesses at what caused it for you.

The prw rockers didn't require much of a shim from b3 to line up nice.
But I've had problems with them.
So I put the 273 rockers back on for now.
I will probably start another thread about that at another time.View attachment 1715978563
I got my trickflow heads, head bolts, prw 1.6 rockers, rocker correction kit and Smith brother push rods through Mike at B3 racing. The heads went on my 2000 magnum 360 straight out of the box. Been running for over 2 years and lots of 7000/7500 passes. With no problems. So I woukd be very interested in hearing what problems you was having the prw rockers. The only thing is I wish trickflow woukd of put in more side clearance for the push rods. I have 3/8th size push rods and the clearance was really close

I agree looks like when I feel better I better remove mine and look them over. I have open headers on my 91 dakota, so I dont think I could hear any valve train noise. But the last time I checked the valve lash everything was good.

Ok Well if it helps you avoid a problem then
I'll share my experience so far,
Mine keep wearing out the bushings
Interesting, thanks for sharing.
I will be running these on my next motor and are now feeling a bit uneasy about them.
Just an observation - your adjuster looks too low, the set I have the oil passage to the adjuster is quite high, you need the adjuster down around 1 turn from stopped to line the passage up. But mine have 2 bushes per arm with a void in the middle instead of the groove cut into the bushing like yours so they might have revised the design and moved the oil passage at some point.
Hard to see from the photos, is there another oil passage drilled out to the roller side?

You're welcome,
Thanks for your observation too.
They are all right at 1 turn down from the top.
I will start a new thread about this and keep you guys posted.

I didn't see it in the parts description. But will those allow for push rod oiling ? Thats why I went with the PRW rockers. Pluse the PRW you can get in 1.6

The Comp's have two bushing on the ends with a cavity in the middle of the bore that would fill with oil.

Do you think something like that would help the PRW's?

What about these shafts with banana grooves? Better oiling?

My PRW stainless rockers have two bushings with a gap in the middle as well. Good point about the adjuster too. You may want to make sure the passages are lining up.

Those comps suck and are a stupid design.
The last time I checked you can't even buy replacement bushings for them. And if you convert to full time oiling they flood the upstairs of the engine..
A banana groove on the shaft and a full length bush is the way to go.

Mine have been in the for 11 years and 15K miles…

They’re not wiped out like mopar65’s.

Can you buy replacement bushings for this PRW’s?

interesting… wonder when yours were made/bought in comparison to mopar65’s ?

That's nice for you, but in my world they suck..
If I had to guess, I'd say your bush material is different to what is used in the PRW's.
I don't wipe out rockers like mopar65's either.
I've never used PRW rockers, maybe they suck as well.
I've used the earlier Comp Cams rockers without the bushing, (steel on steel, prone to galling ) and with the correct oiling they looked a lot better than those PRWs pictured earlier.
Personally I'd be adding an oil groove to the shaft.

Those are the PRW stainless ones?

I went with Comp's 10 years ago. They are pricey.

Wondered if anything else out there in steel with rollers that were reliable.
I put those prw 1.6 steel roller rockers on a 360, 10 years working fine..though one time an adjuster came loose and let a push rod loose. Missed..sounded funny ..so pulled the cover and found it, put it back it..good so far. Tightened them all the same...never had that happen before. Ever.

The reason I brought this up is because if you look at the CC rockers you have, you will notice they have a split bush in them, which is not honed, instead of the solid pressed in and honed ones most rockers have.
This to me looks like a steel backed type bush that's designed to be easily replaced, (like a transmission bush).
When I asked Comp about getting replacements, they told me that even though they are easy to replace, they don't sell them. You have to buy another rocker..

Yep galling, that's when I switch to full time oiling..
