Trimming piston skirts

I have a set of seven 7025 pistons, was told that the TRW 2295 were the same so I bought one to complete the set and I noticed that the piston skirt on the 2295 is about 1/8” shorter than the 7025. Would it be ok to chuck up the other seven in a lathe and trim them down to match the 2295?

i was led to believe the correct method of cutting pistons was with a ban saw...

In my opinion, weight matching will be more important then the slightly longer skirt.

See post 3. As long as the weights are the same skirt length is not too critical.

True that. The bad thing about bringing it up (like in post #2 above) is that the OP has no idea if the information is correct or sarcasm.

i figured if he knew enough to mention spinning them up in a lathe it was a safe assumption that he'd know i was goofin' about a ban saw. ;D

Measure the easy way, put both pistons on one pin... You'll only get one pin boss per piston but they will be perfectly matched at the pin bore...

unless they hit something on rotation . I`d rather have them al the same , and balanced too.
