When did the Pentastar first appear and who was the designer?

Burntorange '70 correctly answered the 340 qusstion. Congratulations!!!

How it happened:

Ford had refused to sponsor Glidden for the next season's NHRA Pro Stock competition, so Glidden looked around and decided to build a Plymouth Arrow with a 340.... and won the NHRA Pro Stock World Championship handily with his L-A motor...

Dick Landy, Sox and Martin, Butch Leal and Bily (the kid) Stepp all built 340 Pro Stockers after Glidden showed how fast his was, but not ONE of those other 340 cars EVER WON A RACE. Not a single race...

It's not for nothing that Glidden's nickname is "MAD DOG!" LOL!

The next year, Ford realized their own stupidity and offered him a deal he couldn't refuse, so he went back to Ford and built a Fairmont that went the ENTIRE SEASON without getting outrun by an opponent. The only race he lost all year long, was due to a red light in Denver.
