TTI Exhaust question

They all sound pretty mean guys. Stay away from MagnaFlow straight thru mufflers.

I spoke with Accurate on a complete exhaust for my '65 FS. They didn't like that I have an NOS Mopar resonator (new in the box), and even though they sell them at $499, I only got $252 taken off to delete the resonator from the full system leaving the cost at $1,316, plus the shipping of $250. Sounds high to me.

I’m running the Black Widow Race Venom mufflers with my TTI system. They’re only 9” long so I did have to cut some of the exhaust down since the Dynomax mufflers are longer.

I ran the 3" in & out Hooker Aero Chambers in my "68 A-Body running a 408 Magnum with a full 3" TTI and found them too loud. I swapped them to the Dynomax's I was running in my 493" RB with full 3" TTI in my E-Body and visa versa.

The Aero Chambers were then significantly quieter but still ever so slightly louder than the Dynomax's in the big block car and the Dynomax's were just right in the A-Body small block car.

On a side note: A buddy of mine has a 400" B motor in his car. He added about a 2.5 foot section of same sized exhaust pipe that was "J" shaped a few feet after his collectors on both banks. It somehow cushioned the exhaust pulses enough to eliminate his drone. There is a name for this technique, but I don't remember what it's called.

Exhaust sounds are actually pretty complex and tuneable. Much like musical instruments with regard to sound. I found that using an ovalized exhaust tip "sweetens" the sound of the exhaust to the human ear. I even use them on my cut-outs with the same effect as the flared ends of musical instruments.

not really. haven't really looked but i need to.
Pypes mvt13 seem to have similar dimensions as the dynomax. Case is 14” but I can’t find height width or overall…. The reviews seem good. But the reviews for the dynomax seem good too and they’re making me go deaf.

I run my stepped TTI's into a custom built 2.5" system with an H pipe, through Wicked Flow mufflers, and out factory tips, sounds fricking awesome :)

the mufflers on our dart now are:
2.5"
offset In
center out
case length18"
case width 9.5"
end to end about 24-24.5"

You are saying that they are loud enough to cause hearing damage ?

That J-pipe is a helmholtz resonator. It's used to cut down drone by reflecting sound waves back into the system. They sometimes require experimentation to get the right length. Once dialed in, they work beautifully.
I had 3 1/2 pipe center in/out aeros on my small block car, and once I got used to em, I really liked em. The might have been a little loud on the street, but not bad. 10. OHs car, thru the aeros.

Shep76, if you want performance with QUIET, here is my solution :
Get a muffler with the proper tube size for the application (engine size and power) then get the BIGGEST, FATTEST, LONGEST muffler that will fit under the car.
NO 13" case muffler will be quiet (except maybe a 1 1/2" pipe version)
I have a 28" long fm with a 22"case on one of my cars, and a 26" case magnaflow on another.

I will if I have to. It’s just that I paid good money for the full TTI exhaust and I’m trying not to cut it up. It doesn’t need to be quiet I just need to tone the drone way down.

i didn't buy the mufflers from them. i only got the exhaust and bought the mufflers from pete at Bergman autocraft. i bought the exhaust from him too.
