Anyone run 750 eddys on a tunnel ram. I can get 2 pretty cheap on facebook. I have tried holley 600s and could not get them tuned in worth a crap. I'm a holley man but eddys sure seem to have a way better idle circuit. I went to 2 stock 340 avs carbs on my 340 car and it runs well, just set the idle mixture screws and I was set. This will be on my race car. 70 challenger 440 ported rpm heads, 10.5 comp. howards 272 at .050, .660 lift on a 108, 5000 ptc 8 inch vert, 4.30 gears and 29.5x10.5 tires, race weight is 3500. Car will run 10.30s now would like to hit the teens. Oh. m1 single plane and 850 holley for induction now. Thanks.

A good 4500 type carburetor on a 4500 to 4150 adapter and careful tuning would have you knocking at the backdoor of the nines.

Tunnel ram with 2 660 cfm center squirters work great on big motors. 0.02... Very tune able and instant throttle response.....

Try them and see. I have a set of 500 cfm Edelbrock carbs that are calibrated for dual carb use. I've used them on different engines for years and years. Very simple to set up, very flexible and they work great.

If I were going to tunnel ram it, I would just get another 850 CFM Holley, sideways linkage, and tune accordingly.

Thanks everyone. I thought about the dominator but they are expensive. Just didn't want to go through all the tuning it takes to make holleys work on a tunnel ram like drilling or filling air bleeds, AFRs and IFRs to get the idle and transition right. That in itself is very time consuming. Wish I had the money to just buy two holley style TR carbs. Maybe I'm looking for the easy and cheap way out.

Turn um sideways. Gives a better fuel distribution and also doesn't allow the floats to be overcome with fuel on acceleration. And it looks cool.

I'm going to try two 625 Street demons on my tunnel ram this year... I ran a 625 carter on the back and a 600 Edelbrock on the front for years now and found them very easy to tune and adjust... Were fine Street and drag...

Already have it. Weiand. Tried to make it work with the 600 holleys. Could not get the idle and transition right no matter what I did. I like tunnel rams. I have one for both my cars.

If you are into the tunnel ram thing, have at it. It never made sense to me. They make great 4150 and 4500 series intakes and modern carburetors are very friendly and come in quite large CFM sizes. Just seems to me you are making more work for yourself and spending extra money for little or no return

If you start with two carbs that has replaceable brass it's much easier to get them tuned up.

You can also convert all the pressed in brass to threaded stuff with a drill and tap. Then you can change whatever you want.

I hate the 1850 Holley more than ear aches and watered gin, especially on a TR but you already have them. Why not convert them to changeable brass.

Or, spend a little money on them and send them to Dom at Thumpr carbs and let him put a tune up in them for you.

He's a smart, sharp cat and his customer service in number 1.

I'm always for tunnel Rams. They just take a bit more work to get in shape, but the end gains are absolutely worth it.

That phone number seems to be out of service.

Do you have a working one @yellowrose

Thanks everyone. I'll have to weigh my options here. Just always read tunnel rams make the most power and torque if done right. Not against a dominator, just might have to buy used as 800.00 plus is not in the budget. 1050?

Man! oldkimmer has always got the best stuff... the two words that drive me to say another Holley 850 are race and car. Two Holleys with four corner idling and adjustable air bleeds is as good as you can do here. No power valves required, block them off step up 10 jet sizes to tune from.

I'd leave the power valves in there. Tuned correctly, the PV allows you to not only drop the 10 or so jet sizes but to drop even more jets sizes depending on the power valve channel restriction sizes.

You cruise on the main jets and set WOT A/F ratio with the PVCR. If you just block the PV off and add more jet, all you did was make it pig fat at a cruise so your not lean at WOT.

The power valves work. If they are tuned correctly. And piss on Holley and all the moronic book writers who have been teaching power timing and tuning for decades. Many a Holley has been scrapped because people don't understand how they work.

DON'T run a single 4bbl. on a tunnel ram (except for pro-street etc.) of you want to increase performance. Also DON'T run too small of carbs on it. Forum gurus will tell you to run 2 x 450s and other nonsense. 2 x 750s is about the minimum for a healthy 440. We ran 2 x 660s on a radical 383 and it was perfect, if not undercarbed. A 471 B with Eddy heads just swallows up 2 x 850s. A friend put 2 x 450s on a tunnel rammed hot 340 and lost .5sec (slower) over one 750 and a single plane. Bought another identical 750 and used it with the old one on the same ram and gained back the .5 and another .3 (.8 sec better with 2 x 750 vs 2 x 450s on a 340!). Listen to people who have DONE it successfully.
