Turn Signal Switch Assembly (where to get one)

Not cheaper, but I bought my turn signal switch from the dealer up the street.
 
I just took apart the steering column and it was the little plastic clips inside that were broken.

Alright I got a new ignition switch. While installing it I noticed that the old one had more wires than the new one. Is this a problem and will I have to move any of the wires around?

YES SIR there is a problem with that extra black wire if your car has column shift. The factory harness gets a orange wire there for the shift indicater lamp.

( I've been wrong before )
but if yours is like mine and you just plug it in as is you will loose the dash lights at switch on.
 
You can get one at Summit. I just picked mine up on Friday. It had to be ordered.
 
If its the cancel cam that's broken you can a repair kit at NAPA for around $20.

I will replace the whole thing. I will get it from summit they have good prices.

Alright to get to the ignition switch I already passed the turn signal chunk how do I get that gear thing out?

There is a thin sheet metal cover over a tapered pin through the locking ring. That pin drices out toward the drivers door window. Best to be safe and roll that window down.
 
Alright back to the turn signal switch; I got one from partstrain.com and it is supposed to fit, however, where the long white clip piece plugs into the wiring harness under the dash is fine, but there is another plug with a few more wires and I have no idea where it plugs in to.

And back to the locking plate, the pin will not budge whatsoever, but we have decided that we do not need to replace the ignition switch as we discovered the cause of the problem. (A blown fuse! #-o)

That second connecter comes from the hazzard flasher switch. You should find a matching connecter for it. Actually you should have unplugged it during switch removal.
 
Huh. The previous switch assembly did not have the extra wires and the hazard lights worked (it had the seven or so wires coming from the switch assembly that went to the big plug only). I will have to look for it tucked into the dash.
 
Haha seriously. I think it might work because the extra wires go to extra places on the new one. lol I hope it does or I will have to take the old one out of backyard Scamp.

Well I have confirmed that I have the right switch.

Thanks to you Oklacarcollecto and the two sites I have confirmed it thrice fold.

Now I need to find out what the bugs-bunny mechanic (previous owner aka latin witch-doctor lol) did to that second plug!
 
From researching it, it looks like the second plug may have been for cornering lights. Maybe they made a replacement switch that could be used in more cars by just not using all the plugs. I don't know for sure this is just a guess.
 
That would make sense. That switch that is all over the internet and auto shops can fit a lot of those a bodies.

Well that explains the extra plug.
