The threads on some ucas I have for a disk brake swap seem pretty shallow and I'm wondering if anybody has pics of the threads in a good set of arms or is there a way to restore threads the control arms maybe by welding a piece back in and cutting new ones or something... Thanks in advance for any info

There is no way to restore boogered up threads in UCA's. They are a self threading design, when you screw them in.
If the ball joints don't tighten up properly, the acceptible solution to that, is tack weld the ball joint to the arm, in a couple of locations.
After that, the ball joint isn't going anywhere.
