Upset with Degree wheel findings

No more, this is the last time.
Over the years I’ve told my wife many times that when I purchased a car that it would be my last car that I was buying and I would not work on any more. So just in the last 17years here is my list
65 Belvedere 512ci
67 Dart 383
71 Charger R/T
68 GTX
71 GTX 4sp
GTO Judge R/A lll
70 Challenger R/T
Corvette ZO6
ZL1 Camaro
69 Swinger 340 currently.

Because of my age and current health condition the Dart is my last unless I purchase a restored Mopar to just drive around.
If that is a flat tappet cam, keep your fingers crossed
Seems they fail on the signal of gremlins anymore

Wow sounds like you have your hands full especially having a house fire on top of everything.
I’m 74 but my medical issues is what keeps me from putting no more than 2-4 hours a week working on the Dart. I have a bad arthritic ankle that the surgeon wants to fuse it together, so I have no left to right motion, which will make me lose my balance. Severe arthritis in my hands. Severe arthritis in my right hip. Recently the day after Christmas, I spent 18 hours in the emergency room because I couldn’t walk anymore due to really severe back and leg pains. This issue has been bothering me for the last three months. At least my mind is still intact.
Sorry to hear about your health issues.I hope you find a good doctor who can help sirt them out this year!

Getting old is not for the faint of heart! My mom used to say that often.

I know my tolerance meter doesn't go as high as it used to. Same with the aches and pain. Played way too many sports that demolished my joints. ankles, knees, hips, shoulders all torched. I used to be almost 6'1"... now I'm 5'11". Back cushioning (Discs) has taken a beating.

Keep on truckin' I'll pass on the alternative at the moment!

Glad you got the cam timing solved. Sounds like a pretty good streeter cam for your car. Little lumpy and hopefully enough low end grunt to keep you happy!

Sorry to hear about all your issues especially the disc cushion issues, I know how that feels, my L3 thru L5 are in Severe degradation which I was told could be pinching 2 different nerves from my back to my legs, that’s one of the reasons why I have a MRI for my back scheduled tomorrow.

I have a few little and not so little things that add up. I've had joint pain for decades, and once thought it was "just arthritis" as both my Dad and Gramps had arthritis, but no, it's more like fibromyalgia or similar. A car crash left me with a pin from my left knee to ankle, and my major joints have given me pain for years. I have chronic neck and back pain, and my bowels are terrible irregular. But I refuse to give up, and have many friends who just aren't here anymore.

Goodness you guys' sound like me. lol And one reason I just use just a regular timing gear 9 spots are just too much for me.

After reading your comment I feel Blessed that I am not in your shoes. I pray that you get better soon.

This was my first time using a 9 position gear and even though it was intimidating at first it did help me with getting my issues resolved.

My cam was ground 5 degrees off and I chased overheating problems for years til I degreed the cam and went to a 9 way to fix it. Glad you found the problem before all the hassle, nicely done! BTW installed by the machine shop apparently without checking.

you got 213* 214* and 213.5* off the wheel.

Did you do anything in the math with the intake valve opening number before TDC?

You are 12-13* short of the .050 number. Something looks off to me. If you got 214 from the wheel the ICL is 101

214/2 = 107-6 (IO BTDC) = 101

What were the numbers for the BTDC opening number? 12 or 13ish? If the BTDC number is in the 12 range the ICL is around 95.
Enough advance to make youre dk hard

Cams can be off a couple degrees depending on the the cam grinding stone being worn out or something like that as I've been told before LOL. Best thing anyone can do is push the compression and cam the intake close to keep the dynamic Within the safe zone, and in that case.. just worry about getting that intake close where it's supposed to be. Just my opinion
