UTG engine build "callout"

-
Nick I don't think he had anything to do with anything except pointing out the obvious. First thing drippy core plugs... all of them. then the rocker shafts on backwards...then the dirt in the filter and pan. the oil pressure/ bearing" clearance issues" that was revealed afterward on Lunars channel. I had heard they used standard mains on a .010 under grind. I think someone in this thread mentioned it. Tony's mistake was he put his name on it to try and get some sort of credit and it backfired. Yeah there were more than just his hands on it but don't paste your UTG sticker on it and ship it unless you are quality control which he wasn't. He claims to be old school this is old school chit. It obvious Tony hasn't spent much time in the repair business if any at all. You let chit like that out the door of your shop too many times word gets around. Tony is just full of poop. hes the guy you pay beer money to to do your brakes and ya just hope the car stops and gets ya by till you can get to a real mechanic. In fact more to the point he isn't a mechanic he just plays one on You tube:)

There were a ton-O-problems from the very start with that build.

True true, what happens is a guy has a car young, raises a little hell with it, gets married has kids, no money to race. the car gets parked for some reason, and no money for parts. family comes first. Heck he's lucky that he even has his car in the garage to sit there, drink beer and look at...so, life somehow becomes a BS fest to the young ins about days gone by, what really happened and what ya wish might have happened...it keeps the kids tuned in though...:)
GD...ain't this the truth! :-(

I was wondering if that thing will pass tech inspection at the track... Imagine this he's doing 89 MPh down the track and the body buckles causing a loss of control..I don't see a track wanting to accept the liability. he said something about running it I know he fired up the slant on it and broke in the cam.
A record holding NA slant has this. Ask Mark Etheridge..where did he go? Another missing member

I've tried to watch the "Uncle Tony" thing a few times, and I just can't get into it. I know he used to be on this forum and a lot of you guys know and like him, but the show just doesn't do much for me.

No, it didn't backfire. Whether it was intentional or not. It still got the views. He got paid. All that matters is it got views. It did.

If views is the game then touche you are correct.Someone had asked what do you thing Uncle Tony makes on YT I would think he makes three grand a month on a bad month, and probably has other income streams.:) even then thats not bad for farting around in your own garage with your own toys.

But along those lines......and I'm neither condemning nor defending him here......but IMO the youtube money makin thing is same as a fad. It's gonna fade out sooner or later. Maybe not 100% but it's day is gonna come and go. It's not like income from a welder, mechanic, fabricator or the like. At least that's how I view it.....

yeah and once UT sends out a few hack jobs people will catch on especially if it is thier car :)

Not related but an Uncle Tony episode, did anyone see the kid with the 65 Plymouth? he had a drivabilty issue where the timing moved on him. UT was there and they had the engine half torn down, I mean who tears there engine down for a drivability issue? then UT said engine has to come out and they were like "damn" I was like whats the big deal, you have it half torn down already...that one wasnt Tonys fault he actually did good on that one,he called the bronze bushing the oil pump drive rides in and sure enough that was where the issue was. see I can give him credit where its due :)

Uncle Tony vs anyone from forabodiesonly! $2000 budget u can buy or do anything u want to your motor. Only thing is has to be a 1970s 318. Other than that do u anything u like. But $2000 is all u can spend. Motors must be tested on same dyno. So all u haters step up and challenge him. I say Uncle Tony wins this easily. The winner can get a donation to there favorite charity or free Fram Oil Filters for life.... Us members can take a collection up for the donation to the charity.
He wouldn't stand a chance.

Lmao you don't tear a motor half apart or out over a drive bushing.

Yeah I think Tony walked up on that one...They had the timing cover off, valve covers etc, going after timing chain and valvetrain. The one guy pointed at an exhaust rocker and said "that one isn't moving" they cranked it and it was fine...my spidey senses tell me if it was valvetrain it would have been popping out the carb or exhaust.

Worn or slacked out timing chains make the timing bounce. The intermediate gear moving outward from the cam gear allows it to ..advance/retard in its position by the way the teeth engage.
Could have popped it out and a new one in , while in the car.
Having the intake off can make visibility optimal.

Anyone with some smarts & the same credit cards those 2 clowns have could do the same crap they do. Their escapades are financed unlike the real world we live in. Need a tire on the side of the interstate? No problem! A credit card and the film crew to the resuce. They also should invest in some safety equipment or just make an appointment with the oncologist.

Just when you thought you have seen everything. It seems old uncle tony has decided to "call out" steve dulcich and david friberger with a a mopar "318 build" but, with zero new parts other than a gasket set being allowed. Quite bizarre. What do you guys think?
Would a 2bbl Poly 318 defeat uncle Tony?
What would you guys do to perk up a stock 318 to compete with uncle T?

Hack out the air cleaner for better flow into a screwed around with carb that flows more as well into a modified (AKA - prepped& ported) intake and cylinder head. Mill for more compression.

The pistons would be shaved and lightened. Rods would be lightened & smoothed. If I had to stay with the stock stroke, fine, but “up” stroking the crank would be my personal touch if legal. But otherwise, work the counter weights thinner & lighten the crank, cut down on the bearing width.

Fabricate my own windage tray and crank scraper. Cut and re-weld the oil pan and pick up deeper. Shim the oil pump relief spring. Port the exhaust manifolds.

Coat the inside of the block for quicker oil return and coat ever surface of every part with oil shedding material. Coat the piston tops & head chambers.

That’s were I’d start.
