back at it today.

new rod bolts installed and working on honing the block. crank is polished and ready to go too. my buddy dave says everything looks great and it should go together nicely.

Did you resize the rods when you had the new rod bolts installed? It all looks good
 
no, dave said no need to. some say you have to but he has been building these things for decades so I trust him. i installed them. if they were already at a shop i may have had it done since they were there already.

oh man.. yet another cam dilemma. the oregon cam is still a coupe weeks away from even getting shipped. my buddy dave found a mp cam and lifters in his stash (new in the box). he thinks it would be perfect in the motor.. my other budy tom thinks it may be too big and thinks the oregon cam would be better... if i use the mp cam the motor will probably be together and probably running on a run stand next week.. with the oregon cam its still a couple weeks out... i trust both guys very much but not sure what to do with this damn cam now..lol if cam science wasn't so voodoo to me it may be an easier decision..

You’re overthinking cam selection I think. The MP will work as it’s a mild upgraded cam, as will the Oregon grind. You’ll trade a little bottom for a little top between the two. If time is a big factor pick the easiest one to get in your hands and send it. I personally like the 110 lobe sep better than the 112.
 
probably am over thinking it.. i like keeping it simple but i've had way too many oprions with the damn cam..lol
 
It will. Neither one will make huge gains over the other. And both will do what you’re trying to do just fine.
 
Tom is a lot smarter then me I would go with what he says....
lol.. dave is smart as hell with this stuff too.. he has been building small block mopars for decades. built a ton of 340's over the years. used to bracket race a duster back in the day. he loves the old direct connection stuff.
