Got a '67 Dart, 2 door post and the vinyl top is getting kind of ratty. I like the look, but am not too keen on having to remove the trim and glass to put on a new one. I replaced the windshield a couple years ago and had a helluva time getting rid of the leaks, would prefer not to have to go thru that ordeal again.

Painting the whole car one color isn't in the budget, and it doesn't really need it. Just curious if anyone's got any ideas on what to do. Is there some sort of textured paint that will give the same effect (I don't imagine bedliner would be a good idea)?

Thanx.

If you brush it down, use rust killer and roll it with Semi flat Rustolium it works and looks pretty good.
I rolled it over and over while the paint thickened to get the texture I wanted.

I've never tried any but what about that stuff you can just peel off when your tired of it?

Plasti-dip? It would look good and the texture would totally work. But it's not really a permanent thing. It would depend on how much time the car spends outside in the sun, but you'd probably only get a few years out of it at the most. Of course you could just peel it off and re-coat it when it started to look bad.

Just paint it.... My 340 Swinger was ordered with a painted top. All of the trim is still used just like a vynal top.

Looks good, was thinking of that myself, but wasn't sure how it would work out.

That would be the safe option, just a little more body work to smooth out the inevitable rust pits.
