Not sure if this exists in the after-market, but I'm looking for the door lock latch assembly (that closes around the striker) for both RHS+LHS to suit a 67-76 Dart (I'm guessing they're a common assembly on many other Mopar's also). I've tried rebuilding the pass-side but they're just worn out.

I've found the strikers readily available, but not the mechanism.

If they're not available new, is there a company out there who specialise in rebuilding these ?

Thanks!

I have some good used ones if you choose to go that route.
Thanks, Mark

The only one I have seen new is for a 68. While the 68 one will work fit in a 69 door, the lock rod linkage is different. The hole on the top of the door is a few inches from the rear of a 68 while on a 68 it is more towards the middle of the door, so even with all the 68 linkage the 68 latch will not work on a 69 door.....

Apparently 1967 and 1968 are different from 1969. There could ve differences in other years also.

Thanks for the feedback so far. My problem now becomes what year do I have - I know the pass-side door on mine is not original and came off a VF Valiant (1969), while the drivers-side is original (VG Valiant - 1970/1).

On top of that, I have no idea if Chrysler Australia got all their hardtop bodies out of Chrysler Canada to the same spec or if it changed across the years. I've been told the VF's were based on a US 1968 model and my guess is the VG's were the same...

I do have a few more doors kicking around that I will have to see about pulling apart and comparing. Maybe we need a reference somewhere for all the interchangables on these as I'm sure others have worn-out latches.

I also heard today that the 1968 sets that have been reproduced are made by a company in Taiwan called something like "Layet". If anybody knows the correct company name I have a few contacts in TW (I visit there quarterly for work) who could contact the manufacturer and maybe get some year-specific variations knocked out. For probably a third of the eBay price ($75 per)...
