Not much, but it's progress none the less. Pit the right side stripe on today during lunch. I am not doing the original type billboard stripe for $500. Made a pair of these to change the look.

Here is the plan, thin rubber sprayed with adhesive, and the area on the floor.
Waiting 10 minutes to let it tack , then place it in place.

It's good to be a machinist with access to a full shop of CNC lathes and mills...although for this little project all I used was a Bridgeport mill.
Had to clearance my valve covers to fit the ProFlo manifold.
Started mocking up moving the alternator to the driver's side so I can put the AC compressor on the passenger side....

Tripped over a 73+ v8 Body K frame in the woods when I was picking up another derby car today, I will put a manual steering box and will clean it up and list for sale soon.
I've had Vixen's valves tight lashed ever since I installed the engine from fighting detonation. So today I readjusted them since everything else I did at the time got rid of the detonation. Going from .006 and .008 to .020 really woke her up on the bottom end. I didn't think it'd make that big a difference, but it did. Go Vixen! lol

Got my car weighed yesterday! Came in at 3,043lbs. I was hoping to be under 3,000. I think once I put the fiberglass bumpers/brackets on and switch to a lithium battery, I'll get there. That D60 is a tank. Was happy to see I got the weight pretty well balanced at 52% - F and 48% - R.
Left to Right side balance was spot-on as well. Overall pretty happy.

Changed out the RJ14YC plugs for 12's today. After my carb adjustments I think I am getting close. We'll see how the fresh plugs look after I put some miles on them

We're leaving this morning to finish Route 66 trip! Some of you followed last Sept when we started at Galena, KS and went to Santa Monica Pier with Dart. We are leaving this morning from Minneapolis, Mn heading to Chicago. Tomorrow we will officially begin the trip from Chicago to Galena, KS then heading back to MN along Mississippi river. Thinking 8-9 days travel time with lots of stops Those who want to follow along go to " Red Car Chronicles " it's a separate site. My wife will be posting pics and videos on Facebook and Instagram as we travel. Last fall took us almost 3 weeks to coast and back, this should be a little more relaxing trip. Crossing fingers for a smooth trip.

Picked up a 79 newport last night to. 318 runs great slipping the hughes whiplash cam in it bone stock and gonna beat the dog out of it before it gets the ax to build the car. Interior is mint If anyone needs parts I'll be posting it for parts soon

I hear you, as we were talking on fcbo it's just hard i strip several cars a year i cant store every part of these cars. Interior is exceptional in this 79, 53k original miles. All im keeping is engine trans, all body panels and front suspension. everything else is up for grabs all glass, interior, wiring harness bumpers, rear end I wont be using any of it.
Built a simple storage box for a spare 440 crank I have in the garage.
This is really crazy, but I had to give it a shot. I have two rallye wheels that I bought sight-unseen from a junk yard years ago. When they arrived, I stuck them away in the attic without doing much inspection until I needed them. I recently pulled them out to start getting them ready to mount tires. What do I find? Both of them are rust pitted horribly along the outer flange bead, and I'm sure they were like that when I got them. I just didn't pay enought attention to them when they arrived from the junk yard. Well, they are so doggone expensive I sure wasn't going to just throw them away. A couple of wheel shops just shook their head and said no way! I sand blasted them, and you can see the extent of the pitting. The seal shoulders are slightly pitted, but not like the flange.
Rather than toss them, I figured I have nothing to lose trying something totally wierd. I mixed up a batch of JB Weld and went to town on gooping the stuff on with two fingers on a gloved hand. 24 hours later, it was totally cured.
Next, I used my DA sander to smooth out the cured JB Weld, leaving only the material that was filling in the pits. I made one more pass of JB Weld with a small amount on my finger just to "preen" the surface and fill in any pits I had missed or over-ground with the sander. This time I hand sanded it with 60 grit to get it to a smooth and uniform surface that I thought I was ready to try to mount a tire.
This is what the final product looked like. The tire shop mounted the tire, aired it up, and 4 days later its still holding air.

Installed a TTI 2.5” H-Pipe system from my stock manifolds to the tips using TTI down pipes. I previously had a Accurate Exhaust system that was choked down to less than 2” in some spots with an X-Pipe cut in. I reused my Black Widow Race Venom mufflers.
Car is definitely louder and picked up some power going by the seat of the pants feel. I also installed a mini starter since there wasn’t enough room for my regular starter with the TTI down pipe.
