What Are You Doing To/With Your Car Today?

-
Nothing to the car right yet, but I'm building "Cheap & Nasty", my 225 low buck turbo build.

Brought the yung’ns to play in Orange car. Might be awhile before the next time.

As I have to replace my exhaust manifold (it's broken, not leaking but broken), I purchased one used some months ago.
It comes from a '68 Dart.

When I got it

After some layers of high-temp paint

The carb heater flap axle was severely stuck and didn't move anymore.
After a little persuation and some sprays od WD40 and lithium grease, it's brand new again :)
Sorry for the upside down video...

Next step : doing the same thing with the intake manifold, and then also rebuilding my BBS carb.

Pulled out the suspension and steering yesterday. Today I’m going to attempt to install the QA1 k frame and coils kit

Not working on my car this weekend. My wife and I are laying sod. 9 pallets total to put down. We have 4 done so far. We have twice the second picture down now.

I hope that is Centipede! My Cumming/Dawsonville yard has gotten oh so awesome! This Grass keeps running and swallowing everything in sight! With little maintenance! Ironite, and as much and you want to give it!
It Creates a very thick carpet grass! My 7 month old Dotty loves to just go out and lay in it! Myself as well! Like Shag Carpet from the the 70's!

66fyssh!

Much the Same! Took a break from the car shows to get my Coach back from the repair shop! We had a bad Thunder storm in mid August that ripped the main awning loose on the Coach. Insurance paid to replace it
and it had been in the shop for a month or so. We had it moved next door to the repair shop for a complete service on the Engine, chassis, generator, Allison, coolant and more! Brought it home Friday and spent the entire weekend
washing and polishing! She is Looking Good And ready for a trip to the Gulf!

Attention anyone with a late model 1.4 or 2.4 (Renegade, Dart, Fiat 500, etc).

I always knew the 13mm head on the drain plug (which looks close to a 1/2 shaft) could be a problem.

Turns out it WAS a problem.....last weekend.

I spent over 2 hours rounding off that specifically designed, too small head.
I've been consciously aware to "not over tighten".
Apparently that was not enough.
1/2" drive ratchet- no bueno.
Let the rounding begin.
Pounded on 6 point socket and tried 1/2 breaker bar- no love.
More rounding.
6" vice grips and taps with heavy leverage bar- Nope.
10" vice grips and 10 # hammer- Nada.
16" pipe wrench- Not enough room for "swing".

Finally...enter the solution, which I can now highly recommend-

It's like an external "easy out".

That and literally 20 minutes with the impact gun.

Yowza!

Note- because of the way the K frame is, I had to use a 10" "wobbly" extension.
Not ideal, but effective.

The replacement plug has a much more realistic 17mm head, although the metal and machining are not as nice as the OEM plug.

Nice!! Your Coach looks so good when it's cleaned up and shiny. Sounds like it will be good to go on trouble free excursion.

Thanks! I have an exhaust nut that was soft and decided to round itself when I tried to remove it. Forgot I had those in my stash. Gonna have to go give it a try.

Pulled the inner fenders to get new splash shields install. Uh oh.... Cleanup on aisle 3. Sand and wire brush followed be 2 coats of Eastwood Rust Encapsulation.

On the advice of the sod farm we went with Zoysia. Said it's good in this climate with our 5 dogs. Here's an after Pic. (wish I had a drone)

I stuck a set of 15X9 wheels on the back of my Duster yesterday. I'm going to paint them black over the winter. I will run some skinny tires on 15X5 ETs slots on the front. Going for a Day 2 look for my "track tires".

What am I doing with my car today? Battling with the neighbors and town officials because everyone hates it, and the town says it's an illegal abandoned vehicle. None of them understand like you guys and I do that it's a project car, in progress. I just don't know where people think that the cut-off line is between a much loved project car and an illegal abandoned vehicle.

I rebuilt my Carter BBS Ball&ball with this NOS kit :

The carb was leaking and very dirty. Don't know how the engine was working with this piece of trash
The body has been degreased/cleaned with my ultrasound machine and galvanized.
Every worn part has been replaced, new gaskets, the floater heigh adjusted.
I'm also converting the choke from automatic to manual.
