Putting new torsion bars, I got the passenger side out after a 2 day struggle. Exhaust in the way, dropped the lower control arm off the spindle to get more movement and struggled to get the old one out. I grab what I swore was the new right side bar and get it almost in..It won't go in the lca socket. I got the wrong bar! Grabbed the right bar and it slid in slicker then snail snot! I'm beat, never thought I'd still be wrenching on the car at 70+.

Took it for a little drive and found a tiny car show...maybe 25 cars or so...
So I stopped by and parked in the spectators lot...
Only 1 mopar there - a BEAUTIFUL black 69 Roadrunner. ....
I hung out for just a few minutes and when I went to leave there was a bunch of people hanging around in t he parking lot checking out my car..lol

Now she's all tucked away in the garage waiting for Friday. ..

spent HOURS Saturday trying to get the flex plate and torque converter to play nice - never happened, would not mate. SO - spent Sunday pulling the engine back out, taking the converter out and bench fitting them, had to file the holes in the flex plate a little to get things to line up right... got it all back in and fitted. Then I got the starter and headers put in... hey, I'm only a day behind where I expected be... it's all good.

playing with ideas for my '78 Dodge Street Van... It's getting a fresh black paint job soon and then a full vinyl wrap with a retro/70's theme.

Drove it a while....the temperature still creeps up and starting to really bug me.....
Guess it's time to bite the bullet for a new bigger radiator. ....

Solid mount flex fan, no shroud. ...

Jeff
I was struggling with cooling issues for a while until I went to a 7 blade fan & Hayden clutch setup with a factory shroud. What a huge difference! That flex fan is also extremely dangerous. Please get rid of it!

^^^True I almost lost an arm last year due to a blade coming off a flex fan and cutting through everything on my right shoulder.

Finished degreasing the engine compartment, ready to attack it with the wire wheel and sanding pads. Hoping/planning to get it all painted next week. Making it pretty for the new 408!!

Got transmission xmember cut and reinforced for exhaust clearance, then got car finished up and off of jack stands to be able to go to get full exhaust on it Monday or Tuesday. Then it will be back to working the bugs out so I can get the reliability "feeling" back to be able to stray further away from home to some cruise-ins now and then.
Alright, it's at the shop and I can't wait to hear it in a day or two!

Been driving the heck outta the Duster the last week! Put about 250-300 miles on it! Filled it up with gas tonight and discovered the stupid sending unit is leaking like a sieve again!!:BangHead: I have a DMT gasket in it that had seemed to fix it for awhile. Next I guess I'll drop the tank from the valiant parts car and see if there's an oem lock ring on it.

Took the car for a run today after finishing installing the pst torsion bars, fitting the Doug's headers and getting my 21/2 exhaust system made up. Sounds great, a nice deep note & really impressed on how it handles , taking those sweeping freeway bends and the car just tracks so much better just love it. Just ordered some energy suspension lower bump stops just to give it a bit more clearance.

Contemplating if it's time to cut the ol' girl loose and move on to some new and different challenges in life. It's fun to work on them but having been down "the money pit" road too many times in the past it may just be time to let someone else spend their hard earned dollars on a hunk of metal lol...

After last weeks catastrophic fuel filler tube bushing failure dumping raw gas on the ground at the pump, today I will drop the fuel tank and change the filler tube bushing.
I have R & R the tank, this will be the fourth time since I bought it, I am getting fast at it. On Monday (fuel tank permitting) the car goes to the exhaust shop for a new
system, the system in it is too loud and other PIA issues I am tired of. With any luck I will have it ready to show memorial day weekend.

Driving and carshowing! It had it's first evening carshow last night (since replacing wiring harness, upgrading exhaust manifolds and new full length exhaust) and all the lights are great minus the alternator crap of battery volts at idle and quick fluttering of needle around 14V all with lights on.
But it's getting driven!....bottom line.
