What did a BO29 look like when you picked it up at the;

Hurst Facility

OK

You hear some bad stories about the 'makeshift' Conversion Crew
at Hurst-Campbell.

But, they were under the gun to get the first batch of BO29 cars out quick,
so that the 'Top' Factory Racers could get them in their hands by the 1st-Week of March 1968.

While the quality workmanship of the first BO29 cars left a lot to be desired,
once they got into the 'so-called rhythm', things went smoothly.

One of my contacts Ronnie C******* who worked at the Hurst Facility,
said after the first 10 or so were rushed out, the next '44' went out without
too many glitches.

A total of '54' were assembled in the 1st-Conversion {February 18th thru March 15th}.

An additional '18' were assembled in the 2nd-Conversion {May 19th thru May 30th}.

A total of '72' {BO29} Barracuda Race Hemi cars were built.
 
Don't forget all of the first ones that had intake manifold bolts that weren't
properly heat treated. They cracked and broke and fell into the engines.
 
What do you see Dave?
Looking again at the photo. I'm not seeing the rear marker lamp. You thinking 67 with 68 grill?

I noticed the lack of rear side marker too but I'm not familiar enough with these cars to know if they deleted them on them.
 
I am going to call the rear marker light there......the pic is so low resolution that you cant enlarge it much without it getting pixelated. But I have seen on my own 68 that at certain angles and at a distance the rear marker gets absorbed by the rear bumper and looks absent when it is in fact there.

I would bet a better resolution photo would reveal the marker.....look at the photo in the link, not the one posted on this page

At least that is what I would bet on

I agree with you Rani about the photo not picking it up. I can't make out
the lock cylinder also with my tired eyes this late. Lugnuts are not very defined.
I'm not seeing anything else. This is the first picture of one that I noticed
has a different shade of primer from the door to the quarter panel.
Thought that was odd. Most of the photos I have seen have been
of the darts. I didn't notice them being like that. Great photo. Can't be many
out there.

I thought the same thing...I was thinking maybe its a shadow or something that is hard to see in black and white
 
Anyone recognize the building? I am liking the vintage trailer. If I ever get
my car finished I will have to make one like it.

OK,

The first BO29 cars.
* Did 'not' come through with properly heat-treated Intake Manifold bolts.
* Did 'not' come through with 'two' pin supports for the Hood Scoop.
* Did come through with 'both' Windshield Wipers
* Did come through with the improperly aligned 'straight' lower control-arms.

Here is the > BO29 M8B 299142 {Barracuda} ~ 4-Speed
Which was the {#33} BO29 built.

The Barracuda went to;

Great stuff. These are the best photos I've seen of a BO29 as delivered.
Anyone else notice the terrible hood gaps and passenger side fender to
header panel fit.
