For a ‘64 Dart 225. I am looking for this banana shaped piece (circled in the diagram) that connects the lever for the downshift to the carb. Without it, when I go to floor it at speed, it does not downshift to increase acceleration like it’s supposed to. If I can get a parts number too that would be great. EDIT: Forgot to mention that's a carter single barrel carb

I wouldn’t do much more driving until you get that linkage and get it adjusted correctly. Im thinking I’ve read that it can damage the trans.

It is refered to as the kick down linkage ( really it is the throttle pressure controle linkage)

Without it the transmission runs at very low pressures and can burn up the clutches.

Mymopar.com has parts books and Factory Service Manuals free download.

You can find the part number there.

If push comes to shove you can make one from flat stock and with the help of a torch form the curve in the end.

Do a search for super six kickdown on here. There's a member that reproduces those.

There is nothing wrong with the stock style linkage that is pictured (solid metal rod) but in case you can not find the appropriate rod (which was MY case) I installed the Lokar universal cable on my 360 swapped dart and I have been very happy with it. When I got it I got it with the combo Lokar throttle cable as well. Sometimes it's just nice to know that you have options out there but you should definitely have something connecting your throttle to your trans so that they can "communicate"
Good luck!
