My guess is that it has nothing to do with your car. It probably got tossed in the box by someone and left and forgotten about. I have tossed random stuff in boxes they dont belong in before.

Kinda looks like what you would pound into the ground to hold it up, weather it be a tent or a small tree.

The shaft diameter looks too big for a shifter alignment tool. I vote for a cheapy tent stake.

I have used something similar to that when I degree Camshafts with my kit... I can't think of anywhere on a 67 Cuda that that part would go to

Is there a small hole in the end of it? It looks like a light duty draw pin or hitch pin for hooking a utility trailer or lawn sweeper behind a lawn tractor.
