What timing cover are you using with a 7.3 inch damper

-
good for you, chachi.

i hope when you find a timing cover to buy you pick yourself up personality at the same time.
Thanks bud, you have a great day.
And my ex reckons I’ve got several personalities
Seriously, I haven’t done a stock engine, or bought parts without seeing them and measuring all this “yea it fits” is new to me.

Sounds like fun. The Barras can make stupid power.
Sure can. But so can jeeps! I’ve just got the crank done for my 4.8 litre xj jeep stroker, which will make an easy 340hp N/A, or if I can find a jeep 904, I’ll turbo it.
That’s the falcon in the back, behind the jeep that’s getting the stroker.

i take it the cherokee ain't yours cuz i know they made them in yellow! ;D

You obviously like the colour Yellow. You wouldn't be a banana farmer from Queensland by any chance?

Hey! You fellow Aussies please chill out ! Our Valiants are USA beasts, not australian and they are not those Holdens that the sheep are driving.
You have to understand that all parts are expensive but don't get carried away as us aussies earn a lot more in our pay packet than our yank counterparts so dont get carried away with the cost of parts unless you are an unemployed crack head!
I have 2 chargers , A 410 stroker 360 with forged pistons and crank and I beam rods and trick flow heads! It makes around 540hp and a nearly stock 318 VJ 770 with low milage that is still giving me grief!
My 410 has a fluid dampener on it that I got from the states and was no trouble!
Rocket has plenty of mopar stuff and if you buy from the states it is usually here before stuff you order from within Australia! I have ordered from the USA and it has arrived in 4 days but have ordered from QLD at the same
time and it has taken two weeks!
Our hobbie can be expensive. I am a retired panebeater and worked real hard when young to get ahead but when a policeman in this country now earns north of $150 thousand PA and yet we still complain about the cost of living just think you could be worse of living in the USA with no compulsory superannuation system and no automatic health system ,hell even someone that has never worked in their whole life is looked after by medibank! Mopar owning is way more expensive than owning a Cheb but that is the difference for not being a sheep!

Two chargers…. There’s at least $190 000.
Settle down moneybags, nobody likes a skite!

This is your initial post and you "DO NOT" say WTF you have.

"G’day. I’ve bought this type of harmonic balancer, with the timing case pictured, balancer is 7’3 inch diameter, looks like it will hit the timing marks on the timing case before the balancer will go all the way on."

People like you who are argumentative and defensive piss a lot of the "OLD" time members off. Some of us have been in the MOPAR game 20 years longer than you have and really like the advice and suggestions here because we "DO NOT" know everything. If you get your shorts in a twist because you were wrong, maybe you need to find another source of information.

I’m 53, been in Mopars since 1990…. I think I’d qualify as “ old timer” … hey thanks for an assumption…
So, tell me… if I had a 273/318/340/360 or any of the stroker options of these, what difference would it make? I’ll wait..
I didn’t need to tell anyone anything. I asked the question you quoted… if you don’t have an answer, scroll on.

I have the answer for you, but since you were such an a-hole to the people who questioned what you have I'll be damned if I post what you need. People like you get put on the "Ignore" list and then wonder what happened. I have owned, worked on and raced MOPARS for over 60 years and there are members here who also fit that area of expertise.

You didn’t answer the question…. I’ve sorted the issue anyway.
You sure don’t sound like you’re 80….

Forget it boss, this dude is clown shoes.

says he's bucks up "more money in projects than you" and then cries the poor me blues in the next breath. pretty much self identifies as passive aggressive when called on it. then acts all indignant like he figured out the codex to a problem that he didn't even have in the first place if he had spent 5 min mocking up the parts.

ah, the duality of man and all that. or whatever.

just a thought, in your first post you say the damper ''looks like it will hit the timing marks on the timing case before the balancer will go all the way on."
have you actually tried it?
the whole thread could be academic if it clears or even if simply filing down the marks makes it clear.
neil.

Of course I didn’t, I’m a moron… just kidding!
Yes I did. In position it looks to be in front of the timing marks, I’m used to the 7 inch dampers being kinda under.

I can say clearly, that this quote is 100% wrong. It takes me a looong time to finish projects, and some don’t finish… I never cried poor me either… actually two of these projects (the 273 and the jeep stroker are both for my wife, the jeep engine goes in our late sons Cherokee, the 273 is for her so she can drive the car if I pass away, I have three tumours on my liver the doctors aren’t sure about, they say they are focal nodular hyperplasia or haemongia, but I have hemochromatosis, a condition that has a predisposition to cause liver cancer. I used to drink a lot too, gave up over two years ago, and spend that money on car and bike stuff.
I know people ask stupid questions on forums, that’s why I kept my question concise. That type of balancer with that timing cover. THAT’S IT.
What happens on these forums, is people get nosey and want to know everything,or prove how smart they are, I’d understand if it was a cam/valvetrain/compression/ something complicated issue, but this is just a balancer and timing cover, pretty simple.
I’m a pretty private person, and I don’t like posting on these forums, this issue did have me stumped, and for people to think I hadn’t tried putting it on is really a reflection on their own stupidity rather than mine, and have a look back thru the thread, how many posts are relevant to THAT balancer and THAT timing case? Not many, actually Hysteric was the only one.
I’ve been contacted by the company, Pro Race, they reckon it’s no problem, I fitted it yesterday, I wish it had a dust cover over the front seal, it looks like it’s too far out, but whatever.

look, sorry for your health problems. that sucks, truly. but that doesn't give you the right to get all indignant and cunty when you asked for help and didn't supply enough data for us to help you.

nobody was trying to be nosey about your ****. you're the one who brought it up. nobody asked for your bonafides, what projects you had or what your station in life was. you made that an issue. so don't front on that aspect.

and the WHOLE *** thing coulda been a non issue if you had even been arsed to spend the whopping 7 minutes to test fit it. which, if you've been around this **** long enough you know that nothing ever fits right. or maybe if you didn't immediately take a **** attitude for some basic questions that, again, you failed to provide context for.

anyway, glad it worked out for you and got it sorted. hope your health improves. put another shrimp on the barbie and enjoy your car when it's done.

i'm not stupid so don't make assumptions when i only asked the question and quoted 'your' original post. you said it looks like it'll hit the timing marks before its all the way on, that suggests you 'may' not have tried? i assumed nothing, i asked the question was all just to check. as above i'm sorry to hear about your health issues but that doesn't give you the excuse to dis' people who are trying to help you. before posting what you've written maybe you should read it first, you may think ''no that don't sound right, it's not what i'm trying to get across''. a quick edit and you will for sure get lots more help here from people way smarter and more experienced than me. glad you got it sorted now and i hope your health doesn't stop you seeing the project through to the end.
neil.
