I busted a piston in my 440 Dart and now I am having a 512 stroker built to replace it. It is a 440 Source stroker kit with 10.5 comp., port and polished source heads, an Isky .600 roller with .300 -.300 duration. Edelbrock rpm dual plane and 850 holley. Any idea how much hp and torque it will make?

I'm guessing 650 HP and 700 FT/LBS

If that's 300 degrees of duration @ .050 lift I'd bump up that compression ratio at least full point or it'll be awfully lazy on the bottom end.

And like Ramcharger said that motors gonna need a lot of stall if not in front of a 4 speed. I have basically the same motor in 500 cube with Indy heads running 585 lift solid roller

Thanks for the feedback. It has 270 duration at .050 ( i think). Also what stall will be better? I currently have 2800.

270 is still a really big cam. For comparison, over 650 hp can be made with Indy heads and a custom ground solid roller in the mid 240 range @ 6500 rpm in a 440.
Whats your intended use? Strip only? Street Strip? Weekend Cruising?

Keep the 10.5 compression ratio and go with a hydraulic roller in the 230-235 range or a solid roller in the 238-243 range. You'll have buttloads of torque, will be able to run on premium pump gas easy and you could keep your converter. Peak hp should come in around 5500+ rpm, perfect for a street car and you'll haul *** at the strip.

It'll be much easier to maintain and tune and much easier live with at the stop lights. It'll actually feel much faster on the street too.

If you decide to go strip only, get some closed chamber Indy heads and swap out the cam.
