Come on man you know what you have to do - leave the tractor there and keep doing the driveway ,heck another month and you'll need it there to mow the lawn , if he comes out and says anything tell him to STFU and go about your business as if he wasn't there . Only a real POS Goof would even consider punching an 88 year old so your not going to do that , it's for your wife and her mom so just keep doing the right thing and ignore him .

I can't believe any one would even consider "tuning up" an 88 year old man...no matter what kind of jerk he is. There are laws against that you know. Hard as it is just make clear what you do is for her benefit and not his.

There are laws against spousal abuse especially from a
bitter old man that hates the world and his life.
Tuning is what ever you think is appropriate to the situation
to make clear your point.
If your not able to handle an old abusive knucklehead, I pity you.
I can ream your *** as good as any drill sargent if needed.

You guys come off as a bunch of do-gooders that would stand by and watch instead of getting involved.

I did read the whole OP.Where I come from tuning someone up means beating the **** out of them.I'm just saying no matter what kind of *** he is you do not physically assault an 88 year old man. Never once in the OP did I see where he was physically abusive to her. As for standing by and being a do gooder and not getting involved where did I say not to get involved.Just said there are better ways than tuning up an 88 year old man.Of course we do have have different ideas about what tuning up someone means.I can handle an old abusive knucklehead.Been there... done that .....but that's a long story I'd just as soon keep buried with him.

i feel ur pain man im in a very similar situation with her( she is a only child so that makes it hard cause there is nobody else to help) mom and it sucks for sure. as many times as i/we get **** on by her mom i still run to the rescue every time(all hour of the day and night)she falls out of bed or cant get herself off the toilet or breaks the remote or her electric lift chair or whatever else life throws at her.i do ***** and complain at times and say im not helping anymore because her mom ***** on her constantly and she cant for whatever reason stand up to her mom for her own rights.

but at the end of the day it boils down to the fact that Plain and simple bottom line i do it for my wife i love her and because she would do it for me.

not to mention the " for better or worse" thing i promised her so good luck pal its really a no win situation.

Well I decided to take the high road and let the tractor there until April. Then it comes home for good. Also from now on I will wait for my MIL to call and ask for it to be done. Ive ask her not to go out and help do it. This way she wont get hurt. We'll see how this goes. As for mowing the yard its not going to happen. Its much easier to mow a yard then it is to shovel and clean snow. And if he cant do it let them hire someone for that. When next year comes my tractor wont be going up there. Ill give her the number for someone in the snow removal business. But its not me anymore until he is gone! Sounds cruel I know but its going to be for the best! Maybe the wife can talk her into selling and moving to a community where everything is taken care of.
