3.91 here but I`m running a 5 speed with a 2.87 first gear and a .64 fifth gear so there`s no problem with either stop light to stop light or cruising the interstate.

Er ahhh this is kinda like comparing Apples to Zeppelins....kinda need to include what you are doing with the car/gears you are running...... street/strip 355, 373, 391, 410 Strip only 410 & up........ some guys dont mind revving 3500/4000 + on the highway....to me that spells short engine life....if your doing that 1/4 mile at a time...no biggy....if you're driving 100 miles to a show....budget for a new engine in a year or three.
I am more of a park & shine guy with the occasional wild *** hole shot. a good all around set is 355 or 373 391 jump like a bunny as do 410's but plan on visiting the pump a bit more often and taking your time to get somewhere.....
just my humble opinion

Running 3.91s with Detroit TruTrac and tremec 5-speed. First gear is 3.27 so it should bunny hop like 4.89s at launch from stoplight to stoplight :) 5th gear is a nice .64.

don't know............im looking at 4.10 or 4.30 for my dana60. But the 7.25 that is under the car currently has never been looked at. Because, who cares what gear is in it. It won't hold up to the 5.7 hemi, espically when I hit it with a 150 shot of nitrous. Might just have to blow up the 7.25 when the car is up and running. That could be fun

3.55 but plan on 3.91's or 4.10's with the 275/60/15 drag radials

I like to run steel gears. Word on the street is plastic ones do not hold up.

4.30 currently, although I will eventually have a 3.91 for everyday, and a 4.30 for the strip.

Currently have 2.94s in both cars. In the case of the Demon, it keeps the rear end off the ground and allows me to move the car. The Demon has an 8.75 in the works that is going to get a 3.55 SG when finances permit.

The 2.94 is a pretty decent compromise for me in city and street driving with the /6 in the Dart. I'm going to leave it as is. I'll revisit the decision once the Hurricane 4 bbl goes on and gets tuned.

Gears change with my age...At 17 my 340 Duster 4 speed had 5.13's on the street driven daily.
At 27 my Charger had 3.91 on the street. At 37 my Dart had 3.55's. At 53 both of my Plymouths are sporting 2.76's. Where I live now there are alot of open roads and flat highways. Speeds are 75 to 85 MPH just to keep up with traffic.2.94 and or 3.23 are great for the street dependent on tire size. But that's just me.

3.91 Sure Grip rear out of a '64 Fury, 727 and a 440. Lot's of fun around the house, but I want OD so that I can a least pass one or two gas stations on a longer drive!
