I just read this ad in Mopar Collectors Guide. I hope this guy doesn't really believe what he says is true. In addition to the misinformation, I had a tough time typing the ad exactly as it was written. LOL

"1965 Dodge Dart GT convertible with 273 High Performance Formular 5 automatic console shift with bucket seats dual exhaust, rare 1 of 230 Charger Darts made, this is a California car sharp inside and out. 1st Posi- Traction rear end. 1st American made car to produce 1-Horsepower/cubic inch 273 formula S has 275 horsepower. $17,500 call Mike 336-577-2873 NC {DE14}0607

car salesman 101 , crack pipe ,Barret Jackson-- plus a few others all rolled into 1.

Sucker born every minute & he's looking for 1. Lawrence

NOT the first American car to produce one horsepower per cubic inch.
NOT the first "Posi-Trac" rear end (that is GM-speak, directed to the MCG ad poster!)
A "Charger Dart"??? WTF???
"Formular 5"...yup, that is a rare one.
And, a "Dart Formula S", to boot!

Verdict - A GM flipper that has a Chrysler product that he knows absolutely NOTHING about!

Too bad there isn't a picture of that rare 275hp 273.

Missing the GT on the rear fenders. you would want to see the rear valance, VIN, and fender tag. The factory 235 HP would have needed the factory fender well headers, "specially tuned Holley 4160 carb and manifold plus the cam (possible late '66 mod but not factory original 275 hp). Could have been a dealer kit car '65 or highly optioned GT. Sure grip could have been a factory option. Formula S 273 would have been 235 hp also. So the 275 hp is a 66 D-Dart reference, although it was said several other 235 hp's were converted for the '66 season.

Nicely done car (not over done).

I don't know that $17,500 is an outrageous asking price, since it will likely sell for less. Believable that he put $20,000 into it, especially if he paid a shop. I didn't see any underhood photos (can't see craigslist ad). Wouldn't be worth it to me since a hand-on guy, but a decent deal for someone whose alternative is paying $3K for a rough convertible and leaving it with a shop. The fact that he might have mis-represented some history (perhaps innocently) could be negotiating points.

I'd ditch the ridiculous hood scoops, the very incorrect Rallyes, the bright yellow paint, the cheapo Grant GT steering wheel, and probably a few gaudy chrome trinkets that are likely under the hood. It looks like a lot of effort was put into this, but with a skewed vision of how the end product should look. Rallyes just look wrong on these. The scoops need to go back on a Super Bee. The steering wheel needs to be returned to Pep Boys for a refund. And the pictures make the color hard to determine if this is a correct Daffodil Yellow, or a brighter, incorrect yellow. Sorry to sound so critical, but this is a $10K car in my mind, tops. There is so much to be done to correct various items here that the asking price is, shall we say, optimistic?

It's really not a bad looking car--- most likely they used the 47k car for the pricing--- I do not think early "A" cars garner that much coin unless special circumstances.

In this day of google searches -- put in as much key terms as possible --surprised hemi is not in the ad somewhere.

My,my aren't we quite the expert:glasses7:

And it stated: "Over two figures to build this car."

That's pretty cheap!!!! Between $10 up to $99 invested by his reasoning............... Lmfao!!! He's is way off based on what he wrote......

Six figures is $100,000 to $999,999
Five figures is $10,000 to $99,000
Four figures is $1,000 to $9,999
Three figures is $100 to $999
Two figures is $10 to $99
One figure is $1 to $9

He thinks 2 figures equals 20 grand I'm sure...............

Here is another Dart ad for original ad poster to copy from. This one doesn't have the GT on the rear quarters either. Has the 235 hp. (1165 less hp than the KB engine) Left original. Seats etc. didn't opt for the Pep Boys GT steering wheel. Nice car. I don't know if this ad is where the 20k reference comes from?

Dodge Dart GT Convertible. Must sell. Just finished. 1965 Dodge Dart GT convertible. Very collectible car. High performance, (Charger) 273 C.I.D. V8 with four bbl carb, solid lifters, factory performance cam, dual point distributor, and unsilenced air cleaner. Very rare power brake option, power steering, floor mounted automatic transmission, correct factory engine dress up parts. Spinner wheel covers rarely seen. Car is redone bumper to bumper. Spent over $20000.00, not including my labor. ....

I am getting one of those for my 540 in the Demon. Can't wait.

Wish the Tulsa pictures were better. This is one of the registered dealer Dart Charger kit cars (1 of 230) I believe. Rare 4-spd ( auto was 1 second faster). Previous Tulsa car ad was better. Previous price was 15,500 I thought? Maybe value has gone up. Nice factory steering wheel.

if it does not sell at first first, just keep r aising the price till someone bites!!??? LOL
actually some people equate price to value..... or they have limnited knowledge, big ego, and fat c heckbook, so they expect to pay so much for what they want!!???
