I am looking to put 15”x7” on the front and 15”x 8” Cragar SSs on my Duster, but the issue I’m seeking help with is the best looking tires to go with them. I’m thinking about going with a 255/60/15 on the back. I don’t want a tire that’s has a bunch of sidewall...don’t care for that look. Please share your pics and thoughts so I can get some ideas.

Thanks,
Brennon

15x6 up front with a 205/70/15. 15x8 rear with 4.5" backspace and a 275/60/15. PersonallyI wouldn't go larger than a 15x6 up front, and a 255/60/15 fits a 7" rim better . Car has been lowered 1.5" in the rear now so the car sits down nice.

Welcoming me aboard!

IMO, Fisher has one of the best looking cars.

But! Wow! That is very subjective.
I hope you find what you like.
IMO, 255’s have a lot of side wall so I’m thinking 33X12 slicks are out?
(LMAO!)

Tell us more about your Duster!
S/S springs on the back?
Is it raised up?
Lowered?
Stock height?

Pictures??????

I have bfgoodrich radial T/A on my 73 Duster. Personaly i think they look great. have 235/60 15 in the front and 275/60 15 in the back. I has been raised a little in the back though.

Brennon,
You specifically said that you have 15" wheels in mind....because we generally need a ~26" or so tire you can see how you'll end up with something like 5.5" of sidewall. IMO, this looks "correct" on these cars but it sounds like you're looking for something more modern.

Of course you could run smaller outer diameter for less sidewall but the car will start to look awfully funny even before you start to run into ground clearance issues. I think you're looking for larger diameter wheels.

@72bluNblu is one of the sharpest guys on this topic. He's running 18" wheels on his Duster/Demon clone and while I never would have guessed that it was possible, they look incredible, IMO. He also has 17" wheels on his Challenger that have a very classic looking style but also have a bit less sidewall so they more or less split the difference between the very modern 18" and look that we're all used to.

Another relatively popular option is to find a set of 2001-2004 Mustang "Bullitt" 17" wheels. They will require some minor modification but they are pretty sharp on our A-Bodies as well.

Can´t stand it any more... have seen this car before...
Just have to get out of the closet... I´m so in love with this car...
I´m mean I own a ´68 fastback, but...
Well, at least it feels better now.
Sorry for interrupting.

Thank you for the compliment, i love my duster, and enjoy driving it.

If you want performance tires, you need to go to 16" and up in wheel size. These are BFG's on 17" US Mags (black 5 spoke similar to the Cragars) on my Duster.

Those wheels look great! Sharp Duster too.

I'm not sure if I agree with your first point though. 16" tires seem to offer very few performance options. It seems like you can still get BFG Sport Comp-2 in the 16"/~26"diameter range (which are OK performance tires)...otherwise, there's not much that I know of for streetable performance rubber... 17" like yours seem to be the smallest inner diameter with good options and even those are staring to become scarce.

I know the rear size will fit on the duster but i believe blu has said that they will fit on the front but its close

I love those tires and rims. Are the rims weld or jegs? Or something different? Those are the rims I always liked but I got talked out of buying them b/c people on the forum kept saying they look to much like truck tires. But I see them on lots of old muscle cars. Still dig them, may go that route soon, or the jeg version of the weld racing sport.

They are weld Drag lites.

I suggest you look at the whole thread and find “That Stance” couple with what there tire size is on what size wheel with wht back space they have.

Good luck in your hunt!

i am running 215 60's on a 15x6.5 up front and 275 60's on rear with 15x8's and superstock springs...no issues

Man, I love this car more everytime I see it! If it ever goes up for sale message me first!

To the OP- a lot depends on your suspension setup as well. What rear end, springs and ride height will dictate what you can get away with, and also the tolerances on your particular car. With a 15x8 with 4.25"bs and 275/60/15 on the back of mine, with a stock a body 8-3/4 I have 3/8" clearance to the springs. My springs are Espo +1" over stock height, but as they settled I started to get a little rub on the fender lips with passengers or on large bumps.
I run 14x7 on the front with 4.00bs and 225/70/14. I get a little rub on the passenger fender bolt on sharp right turns. Just enough too make me cringe. A slightly shorter tire would cure it.
Just FYI...
