When does money outweigh sentimental value? 1968 notchback build thread

Driver quarter is scabbed poorly. Welds look like Ray Charles got a hold of a battery and coat hanger.

One last thing. Do they make a door jamb/pillar for 67-69 barracudas. I can't seem to find any. I was under the impression all A body jambs were the same but I can only find dart/scamp jambs. Any ideas

Looks like the worst of it is a door and a fender? The pinholes are pretty much par for the course these days. Still, a decent body guy should be able to sort those out. Not perfect by any means but I've definitely seen worse fixed. If you think that quarter replacement is bad you should see my Challenger. Probably a poor example because I'm just going to replace them again, they're so bad I'm not even going to try and mess with them. That one looks fixable, the welds look are ugly but everything seems to be in the right place.

Body quote came in higher than originally planned(of course). They went over the car panel by panel and estimated thier labor. Got me the quote within 24 hrs. I gave them the go ahead to get started.

Here's some more cut 'em up pics from this week. Everytime he sends me pics there's less and less car

great work you are doing there..

Most would not have saved my dart for parts when i first got it..

check my build thread if you get bored one of these days.

Thanks for the kind words but I'm farming out the body work. I'll have to check out your thread.

Here's today's update. Passenger quarter.

Also got the spare tireire well all welded it in. No pictures of that though.

I'm also having him trim the fender lips and eliminate the outer wheelhouse bulge. I believe what he did was cut out and swap side to side. That way I don't get the tire rub on the inside and can run the tire closer to the lip. Pics aren't great, I had to crop out his mug.

I'm a little late to the party, but to answer your question, "When does the money outweigh sentimental value".
Answer: As soon as you drop it off at the body shop

And here's where the real work starts. Fitting a full fastback quarter to a notchback with little remaining original quarter left. A lot is going to have to be made.

Also gave them a rear valance. And ordered a AAR 6pac hood and bumpers. Still need to order a spoiler from Randy and bumper brackets from lingenfelters.

Also, is there any way to change the thread title?
