Which intake should I use/ buy

If that’s the case, then (according to Edelbrock in comparing the air gap to the LD340) there’s probably not enough gain for the expense (even used) of an air gap.

That’s the whole thing right there. There is no chase for an ET slip or maximum power output that can justify spending the money on a RPM AG over what he already has.

A member here (if not a few members) a while back called up Edelbrock and asked the important question straight out which was is it worth dumping your older LD-340 for the then New (ish) RPM AG in which the reply was No. Right out of the companies mouth. While the tech’s did note it would be a better intake than the older LD-340, the cost wasn’t worth the swap.

I myself hoping the pendulum was going to swing a bit more in my favor for testing such a thing. I have wanted to dyno test a few engines I have for the fun of it with a focus on intake manifolds. I have two engines about ready to be hooked up to the lie detector test with a few intakes to run for fun. But this is expensive to do and I’m not going to get all the testing done overnight!

What dual plane intakes do I have?

Weiand’s Action Plus & Stealth, RPM AG, Chink knock off of the AG and a D-64 dual quad. Also a 6-pack.

Why? Why the heck not?! I’m entertaining myself with this idea just for curiosity sake.

If you gotta spend money, get an air gap.

Want to save money, run the intake you have and put a 750 holley VS on it like TT mentioned. If you can tune worth a darn, run a DP carb.

Well dammit, now I want a D64 Dual Quad. Never heard of that one.

this sounds very entertaining and id love to hear the results

All this is gong on your YouTube channel I hope!!

With the price of gas you could use the cast iron 2 barrel intake off a 71 318...( I'm wondering when they will become valuable I have one I'm ready to turn in at the scrap yard ) :poke:I think you'll see it one day someone saying they are looking to run a BBD on a 340... if Unclke Tony sells it someone will buy ...LOL!
i pulled a 69 340 with x heads out of a van with a 2bbl on top of it and an engle cam.

never say never

Most every! intake has fuel distribution problems.
Stating the obvious. You tune for the worst cylinder and I'll take the manifold that does the best job at minimising that variation.

The later manifolds are far more uniform in runner length and diameter.

LOCOMOTION provided plug pics of the difference of AFR on the different planes and the evidence with pics of the plugs on that manifold. Jetting had to be different on one side of the carb from memory to try and even it up.

i can think of a solid half dozen other things i'd upgrade before that manifold, and another half dozen things i'd rather do than swap a perfectly acceptable intake.

you got bigger fish to fry amigo. let that piece ride and tackle that shizz.

Hughes has a good deal on those right now.
I think I got the best deal on my Victor! A member here was selling his victor intake since he didn't feel confident/comfortable using in a street car. So I proposed we trade my airgap for his Victor. He agreed. Only issue was he is in Missouri and I'm in Texas! Determined we shipped each other intakes as an even trade!!
