I have a "67 Barracuda and the original Wiper motor is toast. After reading a number of post here on FABO about re-clocking wiper motors, I bought a wiper motor that's for a B-body and rebuilt. The problem is the 3-speed crank arms have changed thru the years and the '67 arm has a larger hole and for a concentric motor. The new motor uses a non-concentric arm with a smaller hole. From what I have found next generation of arms are part #'s 2822272 and 3431618 and are made for non-concentric motors. The Has any made this conversion using ether one of these two arms using the '67 style linkage? I realize i would also need the plastic bushing that works with the newer arm, the diameter of the hole in the '67 linkage is approxamatly 3/4". Thanks.
 
What 67 wiper motor do you have 2 speed or Vspeed? If a V speed, those can be rebuilt if its a prestolite. If its a Leece Neville motor you typically cannot find the parts for it. I rebuilt a 67 prestolite Vspeed wiper motor for my 67.
 
It's a V-speed. The old wiper motor that came with the car is junk just to put it plainly. I don't think it's rebuildable, and it looks different than most I have seen so it maybe a Leece Nevile.
 
Put up a pic. Heres a pic of my 67 Prestolite Vspeed. My Leece Neville i could not get parts for it. The 67 Prestolite i got from the salvage yard. It was rained on for 12 years or more. The winding paper is an indication of how rusty the cylinder was. I cleaned it up and sent it out to be cadmium plated. I found online how to bench check it for operation when rebuilt. All you can check is low, high and park operation. In the car you can check variable speed because of the wiper switch.

Here are some photos of what I have. The problem with the "67 motor is it also sat out in the rain here in Washington, and the gear box appears to have some pin holes. After looking at the photos of your wiper motor mine maybe a Prestolite. Nice work by the way. My linkage and pivots are in great shape and if I use the 2822272 arm and the offset bushing do you think it will work? My understanding is the change of the motor and arm took place mid-year in '68.

I dont see why it wouldent work if the crank arm will fit the motor. I recommend removing your wiper arms when installing this motor. Then cycle it through a few time and let it "park" a few times. Maybe put a piece of tape on the wiper shaft with a mark on the tape to make sure the wiper shafts stop in park in the same spot every time before putting the wiper arms back on. When you put the arms back on make sure the wiper motor has stopped and went to the parked position before to put them on. .
 
So there is only one way to find out for sure. I just ordered the parts from Ebay and am going to give it a try. My main concert was arm angle to motor body and the distance from the motor centerline to the pivot point of the arm. This would affect the swipe range of the wipers. I am just finishing up the sound deadening and need to put the wiper linkage and motor in before installing the complete dash assembly and heater box. Nothing is easy.
 
Sorry about that, I been searching any threads about swapping wiper motors. Your photo at least gave me hope to order the arm and bushing for my miss guided swap. Again sorry for being photo pirate!
 
Take the die cast wiper pivots and drill a hole in then for a grease fitting, then pump them full of grease before installing. Prevents very common cowl leaks thru the wiper pivot seal.

The motor you have has the small drive crank but might work with the 2822272 Dart crank arm you will also need the black bushing instead of the white one shown in the pic. I have the parts you need

Look closely at the 2 pics in post #5... notice the shaft that pitman arm bolts to is off center in one brand/type of motor. That's where/why the offset bushing is required. The bushing doesn't turn in the arm so we shouldn't consider it eccentric, just offset.
Since the rectangle of the pitman shafts also different, correct pitman arm and bushing for each motor is req'd. Wiper travel wouldn't change.

I ordered a crank arm and offset bushing from eBay of a approxamite total $45. From my conversations with Kim at passion4mopars and Layson"s it sounds like it should work with my existing linkage. I should have the parts by the end of the week and be able to test it before installing the dash.

For what it's worth....The white bushing I pictured & used for my car is for a 2-speed wiper motor. I had alot of trouble getting the linkage correct too! Best of Luck :thumbsup:

The P/N for the white one is 2580200 the 1970 parts book shows it for A&B bodies variable or 3sp depending on the switch.
The black one is P/N 2631766 and is for 2sp motors. I have about 50 2sp motors and none have that white bushing.
 
Any updates? Curious how it worked out with bushing and crank arm, looking to do same thing with my 69.

Steve, I got home from work today and started on a project. Forgot about the wiper motor PNs.
 
No problem Matt, I was landscaping and laying patio slabs..."great" day "off". Gonna post a want ad for the crank arm 2822722. Looks like I need that anyway.

Sorry no updates. Have been more than a little side tracked with buying a new house, moving and the inevitable honey do list. I did install the linkage and motor, it looks like will work. I have not tested it with power though.
 
4spdragtop, I finally have the wiper motor installed and everything worked! The big problem was getting the motor to park in the correct position. Had to take the cover off and reinstall a number of times. Some how I did it right.
 
I thought you had a thread or 2 going on with wiper motors. Glad ya got it resolved. What wiper motor # did you use? Got a pic?

Here's a picture of it on the car.
I bought mine from summit for $53. Cardio has 5 in stock for about $56.
Security Check
If you buy one be careful re clocking it to the a-body position, just back the cover screws off enough to rotate the cover. Then go thru the test sequence listed on Passion4mopars to make sure it not only works, but parks in the proper position. For the price I might buy a second for a spare. Good luck!
