WIW - 1967 Barracuda 383 4 speed car

-
I tried to describe the car the best that I could with the info I was given about it. A 6.5 to 7 all original running, driving 67 fastback 383 4 speed car. All I was, am asking is what people think what a ballpark valve is for this car. Most members were helpful. Then some DB want to say it’s worth 5 bucks because they are to narrow minded or just stupid on the value of certain years, makes and models. Hell, RRR is now the the grammar police? I say go F yourself. I just remembered why I stopped posting my build on here. When you have dickheads like RRR chiming in on your spelling and grammar it’s turns into a joke. For the members that tried to help me value this year, make and model, thank you.

While I think Rusty can come across a little harsh sometimes (or often), He has always tried to help people when they ask questions. The guy has nearly 40K posts with approximately a 1/4 of that many likes, while you have over 8000 posts with around 400 likes. Who is helping people more?

That being said, he will also not hesitate to call you out on the rug when he thinks you need to provide more information. I have to agree with him that it is hard to estimate value, with no pictures, just based on someone saying "It's a 6.5-7 out of 10 car", as people have different opinions of condition a car is in. How many times have we seen someone say "It doesn't need that much work"?

Case in point,.... Here's my Charger when we started working on it.... Who would have thought we would have to replace nearly every exterior piece of metal due to internal rust? I started my project saying "It's not too bad,.... This shouldn't take much" The last picture is what we had to tear it down to before starting to build it back up (Actually,... this picture is after trunk pan, extensions, and driver quarter had already been installed).

If you ask me,... Rusty gave the most realistic answer on here. Seems like you just didn't like his brutal honesty and reacted accordingly. I agree with him,... without seeing it, I'm not giving a realistic value either. I've seen a completely restored, and yes I do mean "Restored" 383 4spd notchback car go for $29K. I know because I missed buying it by 2 days and got to see the car before it was picked up.

While everybody has 2 cents, and they are allowed to post them, the question was simple and the OP admitted low on info. Now opinions on attitudes are the topic? There is sarcasm, jokes and then downright ignorance to. Like it helps or matters.
There are some realistic answers here, and some not so much.
OMG, come on springtime!

Pics are important, best way to 'check' a car out w/o being there, obviously.

As some have stated, myself included, any buyers focus should be on verifying a car's claimed status, condition, etc, is accurate.

Do your research so you are educated enough to be able to determine if the seller is accurate in their description and claims, and be able to ask the right questions.

Also, a 383 would be a Formula S, which came with certain options. And, as stated before, 67s look like 68/69 but have different standard items, options, etc.

Just curious, is this a bench seat car?

I agree with you gdrill.... My point was that too many of these kinds of posts turn into fights when people don't get the response they wanted. I'm not saying Rusty doesn't get grumpy with people, and can be a little harsh, but I do believe he gives his honest opinion. I think he made a valid point that it is hard to give accurate valuations without pictures. As a whole, there seems to be too many verbal attacks on here at times when people take responses too personal.

Ihave not kept up with real world prices since bout 2000. Only way to calculate its value as is, will be to have comparable models in same condition that sold between knowlegable sellers and buyers. No doubt this info is not realily available UNLESS you get into the "group" of people that collect and keep p with this type car.
I have been knew deep in decades past in AAR/Ta cars. There was a mix of people that collected them. Same as going to the FB site for F bodies. There are several guys here that collect/buy/sell/restore the super coupes/kit cars. They know general values. REal world prices based on sales.
How many people on here has recently bought/sold a 383 cuda survivor? How many in this world are there. How much more is a survivor worth than a restored car? What is a restored car selling for? Is BJ a true gauge of value. Is Hagerty is real world gauge of value. ( They tell me I should insure my unrestored 71 duster for $6000! HA).
Funny thing is on this site, a car will sell or someone will buy a car, any car, and that HATE to tell the price!!!!!

Hemimark knows his ****, he has been around here a long time, so has RRR.
We all would want pics, but Mark was upfront at the beginning.
Take a look at Mark's build thread. He knows cars/mopars and cudas. Was looking for a little insight is all.

HemiMark Don't stop posting your builds here. Love seeing your work. As far as RRR he is a great guy and does help out a lot but 5.00 come on. Thats not like you.

I withdraw my WIW estimate. I'm the wrong guy to ask cause I would love to have a 67 383 4 gear, and if it was a beautiful survivor, I would buy with my heart and not my head and pay upper 20's.

The 5 dollar thing was really a joke trying to pry him to post pictures. But then I get insulted and name called with curses and of course, as usual, no mod ever steps in when I am on the receiving end. Let me talk to someone like that (which btw I will no longer do) and see what I get.

It's all good though. I couldn't care less. I respect HemiMark's knowledge and builds. He's done some great cars, but I don't have to put up with being cursed and all the name calling and insults. That's not the road I took and I will not be tempted to do such. Not anymore.

I do appreciate the few kind words, however, who was "harsh" to whom here?

Your right, I apologize for calling you names. I'm better than that. Also, my grammar and spelling are way better before I start drinking vodka. Again, I apologize.

1 Dollar, Bob!

I don’t have any real input other than I too believe fastback barracudas are underpriced given what a fastback mustang sells for, and to be honest, I’m okay with that. There’s not much more sickening than digging through B-body mopar adds and seeing shell after shell of tired old beat to hell crap listed well over $10k

Yes, yes, yes. And 15k shells listed by restoration businesses, you know, the people who rebuild them and sell them. What does it tell you when a resto shop has a "great opportunity" listed for sale instead of doing it themselves, and making that "big Profit?"

The problem with comparing those two is, the Cudas actually could haul ***. The Mustangs were just play prettys.

Agree for the most part, with the exception of a few badass FB mustangs, of course, they are also ultra spendy.

I was always a B-body guy but the insane prices turned me off to mopars almost altogether.

Then one day at the body shop i worked at we built a really nice 66 FB Mustang. We put a stout 302 stroker in it and installed a Tremec 5 speed. We managed to get the 5 speed mounted by drilling out the existing cross member support bracket, relocating it and massaging the tunnel with a little heat and hammering and it came out really nice and almost stock looking. It seemed like such a fun little car that it got me thinking hard about A-body Barracudas. I was always a mopar guy and that 66 ferd helped remind me that all wasn't lost in mopar land!

Ford never had much street cred. Their engineers were too busy grinding camshafts with retarded camshaft timing. They were slugs in comparison to what they could have been. Some had good styling, sure, but they were slow. Gimmie a fresh 68 383 4 speed Road Runner with a 4.10 sure grip and I bet I could outrun "just about" every car in the muscle car era.

I got a lead on an all original, one owner 67 Baracuda 383, 4 speed FASTBACK. It still has its original paint, not perfect but very nice, good shine, not faded. A friend of mine has seen this car in person and describes as a true survivor. States the interior looks beautiful and all the chrome looks nice. He believes the original owner would have all documents and paperwork. Also, it comes with the original steel wheel with poverty caps. My question to you 'all is, What do you think this thing is worth? I know its tuff without pictures but I need a little help.
Thanks,
Hemimark
This is a running, driving 6.5 to 7 out of 10 car.

Buy it. Even if you gotta take out a loan. I hope it's red, because red cars go faster.

When are you going to get to see the car and hopefully give us an update and maybe a few pics? Curious if my 35% margin of error is accurate or not on this one! Personally, I like to stay towards the base level cars anymore that don’t command a premium or demand a concours restoration. I enjoy something that’s retro rodded and modernized a lot more than something that has to be kept all original.

:drama:
You gotta love it when it all comes together!

Hopefully in the spring. The lady who owns it says she wants to have the washed and detailed before she shows it.

Thanks Mark. I am sorry too that my response didn't come across more in the joking spirit that it was meant.

I can hear the price going up from here. @HemiMark were you the guy who was in central Missouri at one point or am I thinking of someone else?

Let me see if I can help Mark out and not get dumbass comments in return. This car is show worthy and a not rusted out POS, it looks like the same quality of the attached picture, it didn't get driven in the rain and the engine has never been out of the car... just a cam swap many years ago, the car is a Blue Formula S 383/4 spd with blue interior. There were only 1784 Formula S 383's made in 1967, that number includes Fastbacks, Notches and convert's and both Auto and 4 spd transmissions so in this configuration it's rare. The owner died and his wife doesn't want the car to be removed from storage till the Ohio weather is better so pictures are not an option at this point. The car was this guys pride and joy that he ordered new.
