Ya' want something REALLY GOOD? What local delicacies do you like in your area?

When I lived in Memphis, it was BBQ (dry rub, sauced afterward)and smoked ham.

Oh boy, that smoked ham was unreal.

From back when I was in L.A., a place called Arturo's Puffy Tacos. It's in Whittier. The ground beef version is by far the best and to die for. I managed to scrounge a recipe for this stuff and it's spot on. Up my way, it's dungeness crab cakes, often from crabs only hours out of the water. Hot, crispy, and washed down with cold beer. Good stuff!

I'll be trying the potato balls for sure, they look great.

Oh yeah besides Apple's Apple's & more apples there's, miner's burgers.. & I believe we have the best tamales in the state/ USA or the entire universe....some self important son of a ***** with a magazine said so

Around here the two biggies would be lobster and scallops. Lobster boiled and right out of the shell before it cools and scallops sauteed in garlic butter just long enough to make sure they are not raw. From my own kitchen/bbq/smoker, which is far better than any restaurant, moose burgers, ribs, chicken and pulled pork.

Mary's Pizza in Lisbon, OH. Each pie weighs several pounds, and is roughly 2 inches thick. I brought one to work in Pittsburgh once, and had people driving an hour out of their way to get them after they tried it.

Beef on weck ..sodium intake for a day or two off the chart but man it is a great sandwich..salt, caraway seeds on a crisp (kimmelweck) roll. Pizza at "Bocce's" my favorite for about 50 plus years ..:)

I remember when that was called "thousand island sauce"

Looks like thousand island dressing but doesn't taste like it. Every local place seems to have there own house recipe. One of the best is a local wing place that has a habanero fry sauce. So hot you can barely stand it but so good you can't stop eating it.

Yeah it's a big pie, about $25, but if your in the Buffalo NY area it is the best you will ever have .:mob: :soapbox::poke: ... OK, IMHO
**** I'm all the way across the country in Washington state, I guess I'd go see the bills play too if I'm going for pizza.
I usually make my own pizza from scratch...but that one looks awfully attractive

Recipe was submitted to these guys since one of it's ingredients came from them

Chris & Pitt's included it in their published cookbook long ago.

Wow. Blast from the past. My wife lived in Bellflower and we loved Chris & Pitts. Didn’t know they were still around. Been 30 years since I’ve been.

Far as I know, still in Whittier. I haven't been there since I was a kid. Both of the parental units were raised in San Gabriel Valley, home territory to them.
