Hi Guys , been trough the green rat...my 69 valiant 100 , its so solid but too expensive to restore back to original , fed up of the whole small block 360 and 727 or a833 recipe , i really dont know where to go with this , and i wanna keep it .Fuel injected engines are extremely reliable and you can go everywhere and starts all the time , tought about a 3.6 v6 , 2.4 turbo , 3.5 v6 , even a 4.7 and iron 8.0 v10 ( car was born v8 273 dont have the engine ) i have a 360 magnum and 46re + 3.55 9 1/4 but i already have my duster who as a 360 crate and packing some punch and that is very streetable etc , im just wondering if i go all in with a crazy engine swap or something more simple, so the big question , IF IT WAS YOURS...WHAT WOULD YOU DO ! Sleeper ? Factory ? Drag car ? Road trip car ? Ahahahah

Cool projects.
Good start imo, in fact my favorite platform for racing of all sorts. I have a '67 signet. It's in between stage of motor make over and body tlc, just did the glass n seals.
Btw.. when I saw the denim shorts.. I had to look at your profile to see if you were..
A. Norwegian B.Canadian or C.Australian

It was B.:D
Cheers to our Canadian members

I would set it up to handle…big torsion bars…chassis stiffing…good brakes….some kind of all aluminum engine….

If i really didnt have a vision, id drop an LS in there in a heartbeat

(See what i did there?)

Well, a few years ago I rented and drove two different hybrid cars while traveling. I liked the gas mileage but the gear head in me wanted more horsepower.
I was wondering what type of mileage and performance I could achieve with the right combination of turbo gas engine coupled with the right electric motor while converting the braking system to the electric regenerate type. I figured that I would start with an A body and replace the front clip, doors, and deck lid with fiberglass/epoxy or preferably carbon fiber/epoxy replacements to lighten the body mass. I even figured that I could do the HemiDenny front suspension replacement to get more room in the engine compartment. I thought a good goal was a 12 or 13 second quarter mile car that got 30 miles to the gallon (12.75 Km/L).
Then the cost factor hit me hard and I figured any v-8 would be cheaper but not as interesting to do.

Sometimes im like man...a quiet 300hp rwd srt4 turbo engine would be cool , even a 3.9 v6 magnum , im just getting bored with another small block build , maybe a streetable 5.2 or 5.9 could do the job but i dont know nothing about turbocharging and putting all of this around a stock engine , like everybody does on the internet ! Ahahah

Back in the late 1970s a friend of mine raced me in his Pinto Wagon. I had a big block 1964 Dodge Polara that I had rebuilt the engine with performance items (484 purple cam, lifters, springs, aluminum high rise intake, carb, headers, strip clutch and pressure plate). He beat me by a couple of car lengths three times. He lifted the hood and showed me the Ford turbo inline 4 cylinder that he transplanted from a Thunderbird. His car was 1500 pounds lighter than mine. I would start out a little ahead of him but then he would fly pass me once the turbo took affect.

I think you memory is distorted... The Turbo-Coupe came out in late 83 as an 84 model...

Considering fuel costs these days I'd be temped to look for a modern turbocharged manual trans option...
Make it light, fuel efficient & make it handle....

I’m thinking an SRT4 from a Neon has been done before. It’s a very cool idea in an early light A body. Probably not very budget friendly, though.

Srt 2.4 with. 60 mm turbo and meth injection. Manual trans from a Jeep Liberty and IRS from a mustang cobra/Lincoln mkiii. Keep the mopar front suspension with bigger T bars, reinforced LCA, and reinforced core support.

450 WHP, manual trans, independent rear suspension. With the short wheelbase and all the weight savings from the 4 cyl, I bet it would be incredibly well balanced and fun as hell.

Thanks for the correction. He must have adapted a turbo from something else back then. Thinking about it years later I assumed it was from the Thunderbird.

Set it up for the street, autocross style and put a hot slant 6 in it.

I would do the Mad Max tribute, no one has done one on this site, maybe for a good reason? Start with a 383 and automatic transmission with an 3.91 or 4.10 gears. Leave the grill out and double up on the bumpers front and rear, way over size tall tires and the best flat black paint job with white flames. Buy some exhaust pipe and go wild on an exoskelton frame work, cut some circular blades in half and weld them on, you mean business.

I’m planning a very mild mad max-ish build with my 75 Scamp. Actually it’ll be more roadkill garage off-road Challenger than mad max. Using a sb instead of a bb, cutting the fenders and quarters (all rough) as needed to fit 32” tires.
