Yeah....having a great platform to start with , but i dont know what i want !!

Its a bit too much for me...up to now a smaller engine ( 1st choice would be a small v8 ) and a maual trans and make a very light and reinforced car would be my 1st choice, a valiant is not like a duster or a dart...it doesnt have that muscle look with scoops and impact colors and all...so its harf to have a good clear idea , its a very nice car..but a bastard car !!

Which is exactly why the SRT4 swap is ideal for the Valiant. I considered doing an SRT4 or Pentastar swap in my Duster, but only briefly because it just wouldn’t seem right having that type of exhaust note coming from a car like a Duster. Now, for my 67 Valiant? Absolutely! In fact, I considered doing a pentastar swap in it, then I decided I was going to do the SRT4 swap. However, since the primary use of the Valiant will be driver/family vehicle, I have since decided to go even farther off the rails and do a 1.9L VW ALH TDI swap.

I second the SRT-4 or TDI swap. TDIs are awesome but parts are expensive like all VW engines and I'm not sure what you'd have to do for a transmission to fit in a RWD car? Nice thing about factory turbo engines, you can get quite a bit more HP out of them without having to tear them apart and swap internal components. Bolt-ons, increased boost and a good tune will give huge gains compared to an N/A engine.

Back when Intrepids with 3.5s were plentiful I had this wild idea of taking the front suspension, engine, transmission, etc. along with the rear suspension and putting them under an A-body sedan (I likely would have chosen a four door). Given what is plentiful today I'd consider the 3.6...

There’s a company making adapter plates to bolt the ALH up to various transmissions. They don’t have the sb Mopar adapter available yet, but hopefully will have by the time I’m ready to start messing with it.

What would I do if it were mine:...
I know you said you're fed up with the 360 in an A body recipe but there's a good reason that happens so often.

So what I would do is go with a 318 or 360, get it running and work all the bugs out. Then get the car nice with all rust repaired and new paint everywhere.

Then I'd drive the car and get to know it well. Then I would look into swap options out there.

Its hard enough to get stuff working together that was meant to work together, even tougher to fab and get stuff working together that was never meant. Plus it's easier to modify a car that is already alive, at least that's been my experience.

I like the 318 idea. A slightly modified 318 can easily get you 300 HP with great reliability and decent milage. Then focus on carving corners. A nice 318 would give you plenty of power, and a great suspension would make for a FUN car to drive. I also like the idea of the turbo charged 4 banger a lot! I had a 1988 LeBaron Convertible with a 2.2 turbo, and I loved that car. It was plenty peppy bone stock, and there are lots of mods you can do. Then I would still go in for the corner carving suspension. If I were forced to choose, I'd go with the turbo 4. You'd have the only one at the next Mopar show.

Don't need to go SRT-4 for the turbo-4 route either, could swap one of those 2.2/2.5L turbo-4's which make great power and are quite robust. I know that engine platform was available in north-south configuration for small trucks so getting the rest of the drivetrain sorted out in a RWD car would be pretty easy.

Man, I’d love to have that car.
I’d build a street beast. That’s just how I like them. Though capable of anywhere @ anytime and a OD would be just fine as that would complete the double duty aspect needed for the “Anywhere” part of the car.

I have plenty of small block parts to build one up. At my disposal for immediate use could be;

A simple 5.9-A-500-3.23’s for a 8-3/4.
Or a slight more beef added build like.…

340/727/2500 stall with a mild cam. I have ether stock J heads or well ported W2’s ready to rock and roll. Which would require a converter change with a nice cam I have waiting for me.

or something a slight bit limited in distance but yet a nice predator within a reasonable distance from the homestead.

A High compression W5/M1-W5 street intake, manual shifting 904-8-3/4, but I’ll need some gears for that as I only have 3.23’s or 4.88’s available and ready to go.
Maybe 4.88’s with a really tall tire….. 30”
I would not bother with a manual trans conversion.
I’ve also never had “Issues” with a carb starting up every time going anywhere in any season or weather condition. Screw the FI! If you already have the entire Magnum set up, then it would be worth it. IF you need FI that bad.

As for the car itself, just get all the paint off and spray it in an epoxy primer and a satin clear coat. You choose the color. Spruce up the wheels & add fat rubber to the rear and skinny ones up front.

Hi Guys , been trough the green rat...my 69 valiant 100 , its so solid but too expensive to restore back to original , fed up of the whole small block 360 and 727 or a833 recipe , i really dont know where to go with this , and i wanna keep it .Fuel injected engines are extremely reliable and you can go everywhere and starts all the time , tought about a 3.6 v6 , 2.4 turbo , 3.5 v6 , even a 4.7 and iron 8.0 v10 ( car was born v8 273 dont have the engine ) i have a 360 magnum and 46re + 3.55 9 1/4 but i already have my duster who as a 360 crate and packing some punch and that is very streetable etc , im just wondering if i go all in with a crazy engine swap or something more simple, so the big question , IF IT WAS YOURS...WHAT WOULD YOU DO ! Sleeper ? Factory ? Drag car ? Road trip car ? Ahahahah

Supercharge the 318 with a mild cam. Super streetable but yet can pack a punch.

To be very honest.... since i sold my 71 cuda last year , i bought back my old crush ( 76 e58 duster with 380hp crate ) and 2 months later i bought 2x 69 valiants to give my little cousin the chance of having a nice solid mopar , this 2nd car in the deal was the parts car but its as solid or even more solid than the nicer one , so i kept the ugly but solid Rat...but i was like man , its not a cuda a duster or a roadrunner etc , a valiant is a car that i love but its a bit of an underdog...its never been taken seriously and its as nice or even nicer than a 69 dart in my opinion , but my last 4 mopars were 360 magnum / 340 cars with 727s and a833... i looove my 360 duster with the 727 and 8 3/4 , but do i want to build the exact same car , No ,honestly i dont , in storage i have a complete 2002 ram frame with a 5.9 / 46re and 3.55 suregrip dana , i have a couple of 727s and 904 too and a rare A body 8 3/4 too with either 3.23 or 3.91s , dont have too much funds because all the cash (90% ) i have is for the house and i was lucky enough to buy my old car and this valiant too , but the house will wait because we dont want to pay a house that is 5x the price ( in our area here ) so im taking care of me mentaly ahahahha : and trying to escape my mind with these projects , but a nice and solid 2 door valiant is a freakin nice sleeper....

A 2.5 from an early Dakota [5 speed manual only]. A factory turbo from a car could be added later. My choice would be a 3.6 engine and trans from a Chall, Chgr, or 300. It would be pretty quick and give you 30 mpg highway. You'd need electrical knowledge. ----- Just throwing stuff against the wall.

in storage i have a complete 2002 ram frame with a 5.9 / 46re and 3.55 suregrip dana
Why didn't you lead with that?

Drop that Valiant on the ram frame, get some nice classic looking rims with 33s on em and make a plow truck

That's a no brainer right there

2jz, junk yard turbo and a stick. Its begging for it!! Srt4 turbo would be kinda cool but those things are pretty blah.
