I was working at one of our aerospace companies and the security supervisor called me over to listen to the radio because he thought he was hearing things.It was an unbelievable tragedy. Later that day I was called in to lock down the airport as it was closed to all traffic. May the innocent souls and the courageous rescuers who lost there lives that day,rest in peace.

My mistake,I,m a day early.
 
I just got out of the shower and turned on the news. I watched for 10 minutes and the second plane hit. I was in shock.
 
I was in my office in downtown Cleveland. One of the first weeks in a year I wasn't travelling. A secretary ran into our conference room crying and we turned on the TV to see what was happening.

Not long after that downtown Cleveland was evacuated.
 
i was on nights the night before, i had just woke up and was flipping through the channels still half asleep and thought two stations were showing the same movie...lol
 
I had the day off and was in the bathroom. I live right against the Hudson River and in the flight path for Military Stewart Air Force Base. I hear C5's all the time low and loud but this day I heard a plane that sounded like a VERY loud reverse thrust. It was so loud I looked out the window and saw a passenger Jet barely over the tree tops. My house being on a hill, I was looking straight into passenger windows and could tell you the color of people's shirts. About 15 minutes later my wife told me a plane hit the twin towers which I figured was a Cessna or something and no big deal. It was later I realized the plane I saw one of the planes that was flying using the Hudson River as a guide to the towers that day.
 
I was driving home from a on the job training in the current area I'm at now, (just living 30 miles west of where I am today) I hoped into my ElCamino and turned on the radio. Absoultely wiped out tired, I put on Howard Stern for a possible laff or two. Being tired, I was NOT getting Howards humor that morning. I felt like I was in the middle of a "bit" and didn't want to wait to understand it, so I flipped the station away from Howard reporting the actual news.

How would have thought Howard Stern would be "Scooping" every other radio station in the world?

I get home, answer the rining phone to my buddy SEMIHEMI (http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/member.php?u=970)
asking me if it was true.
Completely ready for one thing and one thing only, a thing called the bed and the sleep that comes with such a device, I am totally bewildered and ask WTF are you talking about?
He comes back, is it like "War of the Worlds" from Orsen Well's?

After a few volleys of this, he sez turn on the T.V.

When I ask, "What channel" his reply sent a very bad and nervous shiver down my spine, He said "Any Channel"
 
I was at work, heard it on the radio... Couldn't understand and still don't why those planes werent shot down, that many "offcorse" at the same time, a 6 year old could have figured out "something isn't right"...
 
Not sure what shift I was on ...... ( Shift work )...... but I tunned the TV on and I believe it was the Today show airing was was believed at the time a small plane had struck one of the towers...... as I was watching, the second plane struck the second tower and the news people ( and me also ) were kinda shocked ..LIKE what the heck????? the thought of an attack was not even in my mind. It took a while for it all to sink in ,,,,,,, then news the third plane came across ..... sad .. angry.... scared .... unbelievable...... were some of the things going through my head. 9/11 Definitely changed our world..... :angry7:
 
I was at my desk at work when the woman in the next cubicle said her mother had just called saying a plane had hit one of the Trade Center towers. We both assumed it was a small private plane or maybe a sightseeing tour plane or something of that nature. Didn't really think anymore about it. In about ten minutes the mother calls back and says, "Another plane just hit the other tower! We saw it happen on TV!" Apparently, they had been watching the news coverage from New York and actually saw the second plane crash into the second tower. Things happened fast after that. People got onto the Web and calls started coming in and management wheeled a TV into the breakroom so we could see what the hell was going on. It was BIG confusion. Some people cried. Some prayed. Most were just stunned. I remember walking my dogs for several nights after that and looking up and not seeing one single plane in the sky. That was creepy.
 
I also remember floating in our pool with my youngest son looking at the sky and talking about what happened and noticing that there were no planes.....just like they said, everything grounded. And it WAS creepy.
 
I was setting right here, the same desk/office I have now. Wife called and said a couple planes had hit the world trade centers.

My first thought (since I had a drag racing buddy that was one of the fired air controlman, back during the strike) was that those idiots in the air control towers, just aren't qualified to do their job, and their equipment was obsolete.

I didn't think about it as a terrorist act. Watched a few minutes of it on the bosses TV, and went back to work. The magnitude of it didn't dawn on me until later in the day.
 
I was at home having coffee when the Sgt in charge of my shift called the house and told me to grab all my gear and "get to the Sheriff's office, we're on lockdown, terrorists have hit the pentagon, NY, and nobody knows what's next!" I spent 24hrs on duty patrolling around the Sheriff's office checking every vehicle that came in and out, law enforcement and otherwise. The Jail was as quiet as a church, the inmates were all glued to the TV's in their areas. The upsweep of Patriotism after that was nice, and also overwhelming.....I hated the fact that people were calling every cop and firefighter a hero right after that. Yes in a sense they/we are but not a Deputy from Ohio who had nothing to do with anything in NY, Washington, or a field in PA....I didn't like being called "hero" for something I had no connection with, it was my job to keep people safe, from themselves and from others. 9/11 has hightened our awareness, but in some ways we are more complacent and ultimately you can not catch every one who wants to do this country harm. We need a true movement towards God and country, not dollars and power, and go back to not taking any **** from anyone instead of paying them to be our friends and apologizing to our enemies.( Sorry for the mini rant )
 
I recall I had the day off. Beautiful sunny day, had lots of plans. Went for breakfast with a buddy, came home, turned on the TV just before the second plane hit. I did'nt move from the spot for the rest of the day. I remember thinking how nothing was ever going to be the same again.
 
I was on the first day at a new job rehabing houses. My mother called me on my cell to say a plane had just hit one of the WTS towers and it might be terrorist related. I was wondering why the radio I was listening to hadn't reported it and at that second they broke for the news. We were all in shock as we listened to it unfold through out the next hour. When someone mention the 9/11 connection with our emergency # which at the time I didn't relize, I thought what a bunch of sick pricks. Once I got home from work and watched it on TV I broke down pretty hard.

September 11 is also my mothers birthday.
 
I was`nt working at the time, watching the news. They broke in with, this just in, a small plane just hit the WTC, I said HTF did that happen? the skys were pure clear, then 15 min later the next plane hit, blew me away. Glued to the TV for the next 7 hours. Still pisses me to this day.:angry7:
 
I was at work. Had my boss tell me to take a look at a locomotive down on the yard, I was going from one location to another and decided to move my car to a closer spot in the parking lot when the radio said a small plane had crashed into the 1 twin tower. Thought nothing of it and continued onto the locomotive. After a short time of working on the loco I looked up and noticed smoke coming from a not too far distance (our rail yard is only a few mile from the Pentagon). The week before there was a fire at a nearby warehouse so I figured it had caught fire again. Later on is when someone said what was going on and all employees started to walk home (all roads were now gridlocked in DC and you couldn't drive anywhere) I ended up staying at work till 1am and can honestly say I never saw all the TV coverage that went on that day. It wasn't till the next night (9/12) where I actually saw a video of the towers falling.
 
I was getting ready for work and flipped on are local news but it was it was broacasting an American news station? 10 minutes later the 2nd plane hit, there was a news team close to ground 0 everyone was watching the tower smoking all of a sudden you heard the screaming of a jet engine then it hit. At work people were in total shock crowded around any TV there was some crying, I went to my jobsite that overlooked the airport and watched plane after plane land some escorted in by jet fighters.
 
I worked graves at the time and wasdriving home. I was listening to the X96 morning show and at first they thought it was a small plane. There hadn't been any real reports about what had happened yet. We had no idea that it was an attack on out wonderful country. One of the hosts laughed and said "what idiot can't see those big towers...." and it was fairly funny. Less than five minutes later he retracted his statement and said it was a jet. I get home and flip on the tv and watch in amazement still not knowing for sure it was a attack. After a short time, probably at the same time. Everyone in our country went into shock as we watched a second plane swoop around and hit the other tower. I can remember yelling to my Mom to come see this. The news anchors and everyone else went Solent for a short time. I was glued to the tv in amazment and shock. I remember watching the fire trucks and all other emergency vehicles. I then remember the reporters taking video of things falling from the towers, then realizing that they where people that were jumping.

When the first tower fell, I remember screaming out of shock. I knew I was in a bad dream that I couldn't wake up from. Still glued to the tv, I couldn't do anything. No sleep, no food, no anything. I watched all day and had to go back to work that night. I worked at wal Mary at the time. I remember it was a very long and strange night that night. We were sold out of things like gas cans, American flags, bottled water, and a few other items. I remember just about the whole crew sit in there watching the coverage still in shock and amazement that something like this could happen. I was 19 at the time and I will never forget that day.
 
I had just flew in from Monster Mopar out of St. Louis, the last flight of the night. Got home took a nap and went to work at 5am for an aerospace company and was sitting at my desk when I heard a women scream. I pulled it up on my computer and my heart just sank.
 
I was driving to work (managing a restaurant) and somehow knew it was no accident. I got to work to find most of the employees and customers crowded around the TV in our break room and just in time to see the second hit. Four people on our staff were from NYC had relatives or friends in the towers (all of whom survived miraculously) so it was a tense day to say the least.
 
I was in las Vegas working and saw it on the T.V. before leaving for work. We watched for a couple of hours. Left the room late and went to work. We worked by the airport. It was strange not seeing any planes in the air. Landing or taking off.
 
I was at home getting ready to go to a meeting to close the deal on my uniform company..............I was really mad, sad and in shock.......... its funny, I just signed the papers to sell that company...........
