3 FISH LIMIT AL's BUDGET BUILD

-
Say let me know when they come up for sale ? I need a set for my 68 Form S . Mahalo, C
Prob gonna be a while, but I will let you know. I will put em on a balancer and spin em up first to make sure theres no wobbles before I do anything.

This is the 360 I plan on stuffing in there. Built it about 5 years ago for a 41 Willys project that never happened. I scrounged all the parts from my son. Had a big Erson cam but swapped in a smaller comp thumper just for puttin on the street. Put on the intake that came with the cudas. Fitting up motor mounts that I got from a member here. ($70 for the mounts shipped.)

Hell yeah, Al! You were standin that one UP!

All looks great Al nice work. We have the same thing here on our roads no turns only at stop signs.

Pulled the wheels off my A100 to check out the fit. I liked it so ordered another set the same set. 15 x 6 in front & 16 x 8 on back.
American racing torque trust 2s, two front tires mounted ,balanced and a set of lug nuts.
There goes the budget, another $750 shipped. All so they are 5 on 4 1/2 so I had to get a set of adapters for now till I come up with something better down the road.

That bumped the budget up $35 and $30 for some 3" studs.
Shot some paint here and there. Was wanting the turbine bronze, ended up getting this at NAPA, not exactly it but I like it.
Bump it up $650 more for the base and clear coats. And another $250 for sand paper, buffer and pads and other crap you buy trying to make it easier and faster. TIP OF THE DAY I bought some sanding pads at Auto Zone , cant remember the brand ( hook and loop ) but like 5 pads in a pack . 1000 -1500 - 2000 grit. About $8 a pack. Bought a pack of each grit used the first one ( 1000 )
pad couldn't tell if it was sanding anything or not.
Ended up using regular paper and a sponge block for wet sanding.

Yea painting is expensive for sure and I get the good guy discount. Doing an awesome job and
love the wheels I might copy yours.

After the clear coat. I am by no means a painter, maybe 6 or 7 cars in my life. but this one was the worst for orange peel I ever did.
maybe the heat, humidity , my equipment or me, I don't know but after about a week of cutting and buffing it looks ok.
gonna save the last buff out after I get done nicking it all up.

Here it is with some of the trim going on and the grill I half *** restored.

Spent about a day apiece on each side window installing the glass and all the track and getting them adjusted . The parts where all in boxes and bags from the P O . Mixed missing , didn't know what to look for, but with some help from some of you guys here I got it done. I do not know how they could have installed the glass going down the assembly line. What a PITA it was. Mostly done one handed one eyed and by feel. Don't want to do that again.

Same with my car, I've been painting since I was a young kid and now I get real sick when I do large amounts of painting so did mine one peace at a time. it came out real cobby as well and like you sanded and buffed my *** off.
Don't know if you tried Tryzak DA pads that are 3,000 grit but just before you buff for finish sanding they are great. Nice to see someone tackle there own paint job that has done little painting and turn out as nice as yours.

Unbelievable job Al. Makes me wanna go torch the tent my 69 is in :BangHead:
Thing about this whole deal is. I'M RETIRED and it doesn't get cold here. So I can work all the time as long as I keep the big shop fan blowing on me and the frickin no- seeums don't eat me alive. LOL

Thanks Fred, I painted in my shop with the doors partly open and the fan blow out the over spray. Still got pretty bad in there . Mostly on the clear coat. Yours looks great in the pics.

Had a good week of selling off some parts , so I just spent it all at Classic Industries . 20% off till the 23rd. if you need stuff better hurry. Ordered a bunch of interior stuff.

Thanks guys for buying my stuff !

Pictures look better than my car really is, it is shinny but has some orange peel and a few dirt specs. I have to keep running for the toilet while I paint because I keep throwing up on clear coating.
I am gonna paint my first restoration no matter what.

I 'm thinking this is my last one. I don't know why I don't just buy a new big screen TV and a nice recliner. LOL
