70 dart 470 ci drag car build.

Last bar in for today, I also tig welded everything else that I already mig welded. I would have done things much differently if I knew how far i strayed from original sheet metal lol.
I have one of my lift bars left and my dash bar.
Then I call the dude over to my house for inspection and hopefully 8.50 certification.
That back lift bar was nearly impossible to weld even with no floor in the car.

Hopefully my car isn't turning into a pretzel.
I keep hearing popping when I weld.

It looks like your wife is starting to put down some nice beads. :D
Get Tim over there and hand him the grinder to cleanup any bird **** welds, have him tidy up the shop while he's there

Lol, I'll probably have him come over when the dude is here for certification.
I 100% messed the shop up, at the end of the day I had my mig gun and tig torch cords tied in a not. Thanks to the door bars it's a real pain in the *** to get in the car lol

I hope it quoted the right post? Until you do about 10? cars I think you'll find that every time your processes and thoughts will evolve. When I was doing some things on my house and complaining about what I saw, a buddy told me 'no matter who did a job and how perfectly it was, someone after will come in and point out how'd they'd have done it different and (they'd be right too!)' LOL So, keep on working, you are doing well and making good progress. I offer what may or may not be something you choose to intergrade, no harm. It's refreshing to see hard work being done, and I look forward to seeing it running.

Yeah that's 100% true. I see stuff all the time I've done and have either redone over or want to do over lol.
It's a good thing chromoly is so expensive because I'd tube chassis the entire car lol.

Shitty dash and not too bad seat (mocked up) back in so I can get my dash bar located.

I'm going to try and put my steering column together, I bought the jegs aluminum kit a few months ago. It would be a good idea to know where my steering wheel might end up mounted.
See look I can think 1 step ahead sometimes lol.

I went out to the garage a few minutes ago and measured all my 1-5/8 tubing and my 2 by 3 rectangle. I weighed a 5 ft section of the tubing it was roughly 10 pounds and the 2 by 3 was 3 pounds per foot.
I come up with a total of 262 pounds with all my cage and floor structure. I figure with replacing the floor with .024 and not having any interior in the car I probably gained 0 weight.

Id be shocked if you are over 3200 lbs.

Anybody know the exact weight of a 70 dart bench seat off hand ?
I have mine still in the barn. It's a bish to get too but can weigh it this weekend... asking to save my back lol

Popcorns 2nd time being in the house. The cats are a little hesitant to say hi because he's really big. Yesterday he came in but he was just getting a tour and see how he would react. I'm trying to acclimate him so he is comfortable and our other dogs and cats.
He's only about a year old so he is a rambunctious puppy and he probably hasn't been inside. And of course he has to be a lap dog now lol

Looks like he feels right at home and watching TV like my dog does. Have you ever seen a dog growl at a TV.

Not yet lol. My girls don't pay attention to anything other than the cats and us humans lol .
Popcorn makes a lot of funny noises, some sound like laughing but everything leads into a howl...he loves to howl

Pretty soon all 3 dogs will be on the bed with you guys at night. I knew popcorn would figure out inside is better than outside. He’s a smart dog.

My roll cage is finished. I will be calling the chassis cert guy for my area to come check out my p.o.s & hopefully have an 8.50 certified chassis.
