mixing years

For the most part, I consider myself a Mopar purist. I like cars in their original state, with factory parts.
Having said that, I also like "day two" cars. Crager wheels, Milodon valve covers, Hooker headers, Stewart Warner gauges, just to name a few of the day two changes. Who am I trying to fool, I pretty much like all cars. Lol
I think the best thing to do, is to come up with a plan for each car before you begin.
Whether it be an all original car, or a gasser, or a street car, have a plan before you begin, and then go for it.

I even got non mopar stuff in the form of a universal mini denso alternator, and GM HEI module, but i think this was about mix n matching body and interior parts.

Does using 15x7 fifth ave steelies with 68 dog dish caps count on my 67.

I got you beat, I have a full bore 130 amp, gm alternator on mine.

I say do what you like! That's what's hot rodding is all about. There will always be those nitpickers that will notice the smallest thing that wasn't concourse correct. I have a set of reclining low back seats out of a 79 300 that are going in my 68 Barracuda. They need reupholstered so I do plan on making them look correct.

Dayum, what are you powering in that thing. 130A is a lot. I was second guessing at going with the 50A on mine being maybe too much. Stock on mine was 20A, and i am upgrading to all LED lighting for better effiency except headlights as the LED lamps look hokey, and in the future adding in a mild stereo

Fast 2.0 fuel inj, and a few extra lights , msd, elec. booster fan, maybe a rear defroster . a little overkill, but don`t want any low voltage problems, especially w/ the fuel.inj. and MSD system. battery in trunk, car is totally rewired also.

I am running repop stock harnesses, modified for ammeter bypass, hi beam/ low beam relay setup, and electric choke. I am going carbureted, with a mechanical clutch fan, and GM HEI, very little on the extras, except a hidden stereo. No need for a rear defogger , since i have no plans on driving it in bad weather. If i do a rear defogger it will be a stock type with squirrel cage blower. At this point a 35A mini denso probably would have been enough, but the 50A was cheap, and all i had to do was upgrade the alt output wire to a marine grade 8 gage going back to the battery, along with a fusible link.

Unless its a valuable car I would do whatever you want with it. My (73 slant six swinger) is being built to look like a 72 340 car. I have all the parts to clone my 74 318 Barracuda to a 71 340 six pack with shaker. I have no intentions on ever selling either car so im building what I want.

Interchanging makes it either an orphan or a bastard....

I don't look down on it, or think it is wrong. With that said, I also appreciate a total stock car etc. My Duster is a total bastard. The car is a 70, the engine is from 65, the trans is 74, the 8 3/4 is from 68 etc. It's still just as fun as a stock one I suspect :) I like see these cars on the road no matter what. Of course, there are those who look hideous (to me) too.

68 barracuda grill assembly on my 67.
Back in 1986 couldn't find. Don't bother me none, nor does it change a modified Big block in it. Probably worth more...Lol

Sometimes other years or models looked better

I an convinced a duster with a sharktooth grille would look more thought out if it had demon tail lights instead of duster tail lights

Not that it matters, since the 69 valiant grille is the best looking A body grille out there...which is why I run it on my 71 duster

How about a 71 Swinger, was slant six. Been a drag car since 76. No dash or VIN tag. Bought it from a friend who lost his battle with brain cancer two years later. He always loved 68 Darts, as do I. So, here's the plan: Dash and tag from a 73 4 door I own, 68 front sheetmetal, rear body section, trunk lid, and rear bumper from a wrecked 67 4 door. 69 tail lights because I like them better. Fill the reverse light holes in the 67 rear bumper and paint both bumpers. Drop in a 70 440 I have laying around (13.5:1 CR, 322/.640 solid cam, Isky adjustable rockers, etc), 65 B body 8.75, Hurst HemiDart style rear wheel cutouts, add swing outs to the door bars of the cage, replace the Lexan windows with whatever gennie glass I have laying around, and street drive it anywhere race gas and 4.10s permit. Calling it the Hodge Podge Dodge. People can love me or hate me, IDGAF!

wow! and I thought I was way off center when I put that bench out of a 68 cuda in my 71 duster. ha .. but way better then the chevy buckets the PO put in there

i would like to know on average: Do people get turned off with mixed year cars or do most people not even care?

what i mean by mixed years is say you have (for example) a 67 barracuda and it has say 68 taillights and 68 bucket seats and you open the hood and there is a sweet engine in there but the air cleaner is a 72 trap door unit. Say it has rally wheels which is not correct ....lets go as far as maybe its not even a year correct color. Maybe it has, EV2 orange from the early 70s. and so on and on.

Do little details turn people off to the car (say its not for sale, just at a show) or am i over thinking this whole thing.

what do you think??

Often, those who know will make a mention. Like diarrhea, it just comes out of there mouth. But I have never gotten it in a negitive way. (Comments, not diarrhea LMAO!)

They ether mention it to themselves out loud in passing or garner my attention and make the mention. I just smile and saying with a laugh "Good thing it isn't a resto or I'd be fucked with you for a judge, good eye my friend!"

Some fella caught my trap door air cleaner on my '79. I smiled and nodded. I said, keep looking, pointing to the engine. It (car/engine) looked stock BUT was actually choke full of mods.

On a '69 rear tail panel instead of a '67 panel in a Cuda, I say, if you know where one is, let me know and please feel free to pay for it for me. I'd be happy to accept a gift from you!
Please! Tell me! Where is one.
