360 value...

To be fair, these are complete or mostly complete motors, a couple supposedly in running condition. But you're right, I don't need all the extras. So far I'm lazy and just seeing what is popping up for sale, I'll get more aggressive and check your suggestions out.

A hydraulic roller limited to .450 lift hardly seems worth the effort. I thought the magnum roller gear could handle more lift.

What value if it is a 89-93 360 roller block though?

If I remember right, I paid around $150 for my 360 roller with the 308 heads. One was cracked. It had been in a w250 and was used as a off road mud and rock crawler. I think I still have the cam in my parts pile, but have no desire to go with either a hydraulic or a roller cam.

I ended up throwing away the intake and throttle body and all the ac and power steering and well, everything except for the main caps, one head and a couple of bolts. I only wanted it for the block.

only .450, are you sure? It does seem awful small. are aftermarket replacements more capable, without going retro fit route

I try to find them in the 50-80.00 range close to home and hopefully taken apart. All I want and look for is an LA block, 360 crank, and a timing cover is a bonus. I turned some down lately but I would grab a few if they came around at that price because I’m running low on stock cranks. Probably have ten 360 blocks.

Let's not sell and buy parts here fellas. It's not a sale thread. Send a personal message or start a sale thread. Thanks

Maybe... but will the heads handle it? Common mistake to install a bigger cam than the heads can use.

My cam request to Jones for my 340 with ProMaxx heads came back with a SFT with .575" lift at the valve and 244/252 @ .050" on a 108 LSA. I gave him the full run down of the car and how I planned to use it. It seems pretty saucy for a car mostly run on street and road courses, but I'll take his word for it. Same heads would probably go on the stroker eventually, maybe with a bit more porting to take advantage of the extra cubes.

Wow....

I respect Mike Jones but I'm puzzled... The cam he ground for my dirt late model is just a tad bigger and I'm running W-2 head's that likely flow more than those ProMaxx and I'm running 7200 rpm lap after lap.

I had to beg Mike for more lift than his first suggestion. Still I bought a Howard's with more lift and duration for a Plan B when his core suppliers production was down due to covid hysteria.

Mopar funky pushrod angles kill as much as .25 lift depending who you talk to so often a little more won't hurt.

The lift theoretically puts the springs right to the limit for coil bind, and like you said the PR angle is going to eat some of that so I'm safe there and should be getting all the heads can give. To run it, I have to ditch the automatic and put the 4spd in, which is where I was going anyway. Car is blown apart into a thousand pieces at he moment so it is the perfect time. I want to find someone with a similar cam to see how it behaves before I fully commit.

gzig
you gave jones gears and trans, weight etc?
what rockers do you have?
if going new 1.6 jones said krooser could get more top end (w2 rockers are pricy) ( I "sponsored" the cam)
krooser can't go more duration (and thus more lift) due to his rpm limt and need to get off the corners with no shifts
that said for you one size shorter with 1.6 might work
jones can tell you
do you have stock valves length
krooser is set up with 1.95 springs
+200 chevy valves or similar
get edm lifters

yeah, I filled in all the blanks including the reported flow numbers for the head. the rockers are PRW and will have a shim kit, already spoken with B3. If I remember correctly, the spring height was set to 1.8" and are supposed to be good for .575" lift according to the head vendor. I just took a closer peek at the spring specs and for a SFT, I'm going to have to change springs, which is not a problem. What is in there are their HFT version which are probably are not going to get the job done with that solid. There was no spring spec included with his recommendation and I don't think his request form asks for valve details other than diameter. He did spec his EDM lifter.

The HFT version states
Closed ………………….. 115 lbs. @ 1.800”
Open ……………………. 310 lbs. @ 1.225”
.575" lift

The hydraulic roller version they list go
Closed …………………… 145 lbs. @ 1.800”
Open……………………….325 lbs @ 1.200″
.600" lift

I had to hold off ordering the cam because I had to put a bunch of the budget into hidden accident damage repair on the body, so I have some time to reassess the cam and springs with him.
