Working on 318 was given this intake just learned what it was because of you guys. Didn’t know what I was getting myself into. Can someone say or not that it’s going to work or not with 318 intake gaskets? And any more information I need could be helpful thanks!

yep, it's a good intake for your 318. I personally would use the auto parts store over the counter fel pro gaskets for a 360/340.

Definitely want the 340/360 composition gaskets instead of metal 318 ones, also make sure to check the heat cross over passage they will plug solid with carbon deposits etc, and will need to be cleaned out throughly before installation.

street engine during the summer ? just use the felpro 1213s intake gasket with a stainless shim at the crossover at least port match the head side or your going to have turbulence/ throttle response issues

I’ve run that setup port-missmatch-be-damned and had zero problems.

The factory ran that mismatch on the 318 four barrel cars.

No need to do anything but bolt it on and have fun. The improvement over a 2bbl intake is major.

The '78-up 318 4bbl didn't have a port mismatch with their castings. The early 318 heads with a 340 intake did. Most didn't have a problem with that setup, but, I've seen a couple that did. Both had a major bog on acceleration. I don't know which cam, compression ratio, or rear end gear ratio they both had, but, just an intake manifold change to matched ports cured both. I doubt you will run across a problem though as I've seen hundreds of others done with no issue.

Free, spend a few bucks and have the machine shop clean it up for you, well worth the money.

Your biggest issue will be a correct four barrel and jetting to work with the 318. It doesn’t have the valves, ports, exhaust and cubic inches like the 340.

My best carb with a 318 was a 273 four barrel. Not sure about the bolt pattern though for that manifold. Maybe a 273 carb can use an adapter or drill the throttle plate.
You can at least match the CFM and jetting for a 273 four barrel. There was an article about using this carb for a 318 years ago. Works great.

318 four barrels I believe used 340 heads so it’s not the same. Be conservative with CFM and jetting or you will flood your mixture.

I’m sure someone can suggest a carb but don’t expect to bolt on a 340 carb and go. Too rich I would think.

Blast/wire wheel/paint it. Check the mating surface that it is flat and not warped or you could have all kinds of problems with vacuum or coolant leaks.
