John Force in a bad bad wreck today

Deep staging, my left foot. I know a few people in their 70's and most of 'em can't go 0.002 seconds without falling asleep. Hell, 99.99% of the population can't hit a reaction time close to anything required for that level of competition. The closest I ever got to a reaction time like that was...

    [WANTED] 74 clutch pedals

I remember from when I converted mine, the only real difference was that the pivot shaft was slightly longer on the clutch pedal version, and there was a very small brace welded into the hanger bracket. It's been twenty five years, but I remember this because I saw that brace and I thought I...

Dash Oil and Brake Warning light - how are they triggered in the start function?

Please calm down a little bit. He's not attacking you, and if he is, that's his problem, not anything wrong with you.

Dash Oil and Brake Warning light - how are they triggered in the start function?

I think the simplest answer for OP, regardless of all this, is that with the key in RUN, the oil light and brake light work normally. There's no self-test for BRAKES like on later vehicles (that I'm aware of), and the default operation for the oil light also coincidentally serves as a self test...

Dash Oil and Brake Warning light - how are they triggered in the start function?

I'll look at the diagrams and see, but all I can tell you is what I see when I start the car. I never said the wiring in my car was right, either.

Dash Oil and Brake Warning light - how are they triggered in the start function?

I think the oil pressure switch grounds the circuit, and oil pressure moves the contact and breaks the ground so light goes out. Power to the circuit turns off with the key

    Brakes distribution block/proportioning valve question

When I converted my Dart to the big cop car brakes, I just reused the distribution block, I never added a proportioning valve. Seeing the other thread brought this to the forefront. I never felt like the front brakes were all that great. Is not having the proportioning valve part of the...

Dash Oil and Brake Warning light - how are they triggered in the start function?

I only know my '72, '75, and my '90's pickups, but I have to disagree. The oil light on my cars is on during cranking, only goes out when the key is off or engine has pressure. I know this because if I crank long enough, it'll start winking out. I'm not sure about accessory, I don't use that...

    Oil Light comes on.

OK, proper oil light operation! Like RRR said, the light should ONLY come on when the key is on, motor is off (or, ugh, if you lose oil pressure for some reason). The light should go OUT when you start the car (within 2-3 seconds) and STAY out until you shut the car off (or lose oil pressure)...

The rocker section cut out and replaced with a 1x1 square tube is classy. No more snagging your pant legs on rusted out rockers.

    timing tape glue

I just realized I haven't used a timing light in years. Daily drivers are all EFI or diesel, and I used a vacuum gauge the last few times I did my carbureted cars. And I haven't worked on a motorcycle in far too long.

    Oil Light comes on.

Guys, you need to re-read the OP. His light is coming on with the key off and removed. This is an electrical issue, not an oil pressure issue.

    Lifter failure

In the mid-2000's I had found a document from Mobil 1 with all the additive packages for their various oils listed out by product line. There was one that had INSANE amounts of ZDDP and that's what I ran when I stabbed a Comp Cam in my 360. I did the startup lube and all that junk. I cranked on...

    Lifter failure

What? I never heard of this? Where does one get this done? Oh...that's where! Sounds like you have a huge opportunity here... I decided roller cams forever, but I worry like a **** about all my old Jap motorcycle engines (well, the 4-strokes anyways) that have shim-over-bucket systems.

Alternative to Bright Dip Anodizing Trim

If you look at the DIY anodizing kits, they'll tell you how to mix up some lye to clean the aluminum, and some nitric acid to desmut the aluminum after the lye. You'll put them in the lye, and it's going to fume and make noxious fumes, and you'll think you ruined your parts, and then when you...
