What size of SU? HS6? I have long thought that a triple SU setup would be very effective on a slant six. Would a tracing of the manifold flanges help? I have one laying around -- I could trace it and scan the tracing.

Yes, you can get an adapter to use a 67 tranny with a later engine. I just had to do this last year. I got it from this guy: T'Flite Patty's Shop Mart | eBay Stores Looks like he is on vacation right now.

Be aware there is a transmission interchange issue between 67-and-earlier and 68-and-up. So if you already have a transmission in mind, stay in that year range. You can get an adapter for later engine/early transmission, but not the other way around.

Sure, the Carter BBD is what they used on the super six -- it will bolt up to the manifold. But the jetting is probably going to be a little aggressive. The standard 273/318 Carter is probably going to work better. You can get a Chinese clone brand new on eBay for $110 -- I'd say bolt it up and...

Yes, the slants changed from 67 to 68. To mate up a 68 motor with my 67 904, I had to use an adapter ring. Going the other way, you'd have to use a different torque convertor with a small snout.

Are you thinking of the fat resonator on the 273 Commando Formula S Barracudas? They do repop those, for about $450. I think they fit a 2.25 pipe -- IIRC they were 2.5 back to the muffler, then 2.25 over the axle.

Well, ssba, it may just be the way the previous owner broke them in. You take a car that the little old lady never took over 3000rpm, and wind it up on the freeway, you are likely to induce a problem. Which reminds me... I just dropped in a L.O.L. motor -- maybe I should treat it more gently.

On the factory Holley 1bbl, the linkages come up from below. On a Carter 2bbl setup, they would be parallel and go straight back toward the firewall.

I don't understand how you could *not* have a small leak at the heat riser flap shaft -- it has a very loose clearance, and there is no bushing. It had to have leaked from the factory. And I don't know what you could do to fix it... drill out both sides and install bronze bushings and a brass...
