When I did my old trailer, I put it on jack stands as high as I could get it. Then started in the back and moved to the front replacing everything. Peace of mind kind of thing.

Factory gauge or aftermarket? if it's the factory gauge check the round plug that plugs into the back of the cluster to make sure all posts have a good connection.
