    Super Victor port matching

Looks good! I set up a table in the bathroom and trim the gaskets in there. Otherwise, I am always in to big a hurry and rush thru and screw up the center dividers to many times (End up being very skinny). I have plenty of time while sitting there!

    stamped steel LA rocker arms

Back when the 340 was new we broke plenty right at that spot even with stock spring pressure. I do believe the 340 rockers were heavier duty from what I remember back them.

    Camshaft for 273

I think that cam would be fine. All cams are a compromise that moves power around from one RPM range to another. At full throttle you will seldom be below 2000 for very long unless you are in way the wrong gear.

    Hood clearance question

If engine is on stock mounts (Stock Location) you should be fine.

    LA Mechanical Roller cam opinions.

In engines we have test similar to your compo = the Victor 340 has generated demonstratable better performance than the Torker II (around 30HP @ 6,000). MY .02 = For Free

    LA Mechanical Roller cam opinions.

Number is correct. What are you intentions with the car? Street Track Both I would definitely run at least the 3:91 with that kind of cam.

    Lunati cams being phased out?

It might be easier to go from 1.5 to 1.6 rockers. If you are not trying to add some additional duration? If there is enough room on your existing camshaft to regrind: Clay Smith Cams has a camshaft @ around 640 to 650 that I have used in several of our 9 Second Bracket A Bodies. They are one...

    Lunati cams being phased out?

Do not sell them too Cheap!! I still have about 50 or more Camshafts form the last Century. If I need something different = I will just have them reground and reconditioned. I just had my Camshaft friends recondition one for me last week.

    Lunati cams being phased out?

Cam cores are in very short supply currently. The limited Chinese cores that are coming over are often NOT CWC cast iron! They are an inferior metallurgy that does not do well under the valve spring pressures required for performance cams. I was visiting with my friend of 60 years, who owns a...

No drain plugs on holleys. Just put a small pan under it.

Need advice on my Holley DP 650

You need to remove the bowl. Not a big job. I have never encountered that particular issue.

    ~450hp from stock stroke 340?

The camshaft would be my main concern for making that power level.

Changing crankshaft bearings with the engine in the car.

I would change the oil and try a quality oil pressure gauge before tearing into it. Then if required: I have made a dowel pin kind of a piece and put into the oil hole and rotated the engine by hand to aid in getting the main bearings in and out with the crank in place. Just make sure it is...

Killed another cam, need to go roller, need recommendations

I run a lot of Clay Smith Camshafts and lifters (Buena Park CA.) Their products are not E bay type cheap but neither is losing an engine. They race NHRA National Race winning stuff from Stock Eliminator to Top Fuel (Langdon family are the owners). I have never had one of their cams go flat or...

LATER FACTORY CAST IRON EXHAUST MANIFOLD SWAP

Have you ever looked at the Dakota truck exhaust manifold? The are very efficient and inexpensive. They might have the closer fit you are looking for. I have angle milled them before for some applications. I do not remember the years anymore that I utilized in my Arrow/Colt small block swaps.

Tom: I generally just sleeve that area. What are your thoughts on that. However, I just have mainly race stuff

Pin hole in cast iron head

Most Mopar head numbers are not worth hardly anything! (I know as I have several hundred cores). If you do not have work and time in it = I would just replace it with another core.

    Sleeved 340

Many of our Race engines have a sleeve or two. Not from damage but from thin spots when sonic tested. Most good machine shops can put one in and maintain alignment BUT it takes an excellent machine shop to put in all eight and maintain geometry.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

I use a metal paper clip as a gauge for clearance. I would like more but with a 1.55 spring or larger that we use it is a compromise between clearance and strength left in the arm of rocker.

Hughes HUG1110P valve springs- anyone use them?

The specs look fine to me for that level of camshaft. Just be sure to not short your installed height and maybe even put them in a bit more (1.68 to 1.70) height, As with any HP engine do not let it idle for extended periods, especially when new. Be sure lifters are rotating as the new cams...

Are Blue Felpro Head Gaskets the Same for 273/318/340?

Myron: Did you mean 1008 not 1007? They are great gaskets BUt If you have the budget Cometic are BETTER. Especially if you are using Aluminum heads with an Iron block! We have used 1008s on 318/360/340. The diameter is a bit big for a 318 and will drop compression slightly a smaller diameter.

shot peening a distributor gear for a roller camshaft

Yes to removing the gear from shaft. However, the pin is a pain to remove at least for my elderly hands. I do not think shot peening would do the job on the gear.

Pieces & Parts that have gathered

I would sonic test the block @ 060 before i spent the money on pistons/rings. Nothing wrong with a sleeve if installed correctly.

Those are a very sought after Head for stock eliminator actually! I have never seen a set without 1.88 Valves myself?

Trying to ID a cam in a mystery motor. Help?

If you have a shop in your area with a Cam Master, you can plot the lift and duration throughout the cycle in a couple minutes flat. They are pretty common out here! With a degree wheel and a Dial Indicator/Mag Base you can do it youself but not nearly as quickly.

David Vizard - Which to prioritize - PORT FLOW or PORT VELOCITY?

Larry Atherton was one of my best friends is High School back in the Mid 1960s. Even as a kid, he had more technical knowledge and mechanical skills than anyone in our high school. He was instrumental in shaping my interest in the High Performance Automotive Hobby. When he states something, he...
