    426 Wedge possible install challenges

Here's some issues you run into with going to big block and using conversion mounts and adding the fitment issues headers into the mix. 440 sitting crooked?

What screws are used on 68 Barracuda Headlight and Grille surround trims?

That might be why the 521 kit comes with the corresponding nuts that might be sheet metal thread?? Although why would a nut be sheet metal thread. All the original 68 screws were 8/32 thread. I found them years ago in stainless, but they don't have that pointed tip. The inner screw heads are...

    426 Wedge possible install challenges

A 340 block open market will cost $800 or probably more than a comparable 360 block. So motors you would buy in whatever stage long block, short block, carb to pan will reflect that difference. If you were having the motor built, that $800 extra would pay for the upgrade to a stroker 360 with...

    426 Wedge possible install challenges

A 360 is more easier on pocketbook. visually and fit-wise identical to a 340. And a little bit more torque for a convertible cruising machine.

How were the A bodies put together down the assembly line?

What's the specific damage in the 2nd picture? If you are talking about the welds coming apart from the shock tower to the inner fender. That is common. If it's still welded, the shock hole is not centered in the inner fender hole in somewhat common. It just places the upper shock location...

NEW: S/S Hemi Prototype Barracuda (Mule) Info found ! Magazine Test car connection!

Good eye. I caught that too. I have a 1968 Hemi Road Runner negative cable with paint all the way under the battery post end. I've seen noted Mopar restorer Troy Angelly paint them all the way. He's a Mopar Nats judge too I believe. And like A56 says, they where attached to motors when whole...

Thank you for posting that. That was written by Geoff then put into print by Mopar Muscle magazine I believe. This is precisely why I'm trying to clear this situation up. Unfortunately, that is 100% incorrect information printed in Mopar Muscle magazine that the car was a 1967 383. Either by...

    Noisy strut rod?

Still wrapping my head around the K-member having poly bushings and then running a Heim joint. Seems redundant. That's two joints. A tighter thing being held in by a lest tighter thing. Are you sure those two pucks clamping the bracket to the K-frame are not aluminum. Most kits are like that.

BTW G3 392 Hemi Challenger's weighs ~4300 lbs. My Barracuda weighs 3209 lbs on computer scales.

    340 Stroker Rotating Assembly

I bought a Scat cast rotating 4" assy from Brian at IMM 13 years ago. A pre-balanced one even. Run a 236/242 solid with mild port heads. Even with a single plane intake the power and torque is plenty for autocross. On road course a SRT 392 Challenger was behind me along the big straight at...

That will tell you that the Mule/Prototype body matches the fender tag. I assume it does. All the options that are shown on the Mule/Prototype show on the car today. No guessing there. The guessing is trying to connect the Mule/Prototype to the Dec 1967 Sports Car Graphic Magazine test car. We...

That’s included with deluxe interior. At least in 1968 it is. I wouldn’t say that’s quite as rare as the defogger. But all those options in the Prototype Mule fender tag is an odd combination. Manual disk, 4spd, 3.91 gear But loaded with luxury options ! Prototype/ Mule fender tag decoded:

I found that old FABO on the Pilot 67 Valiant Signet. It has an early SPD of 807 and SO number 30019. Car was used in parts book I believe. I've learned SO number meaning very year for year. So what might mean something in 1968 does not apply to other years typically.

Got word from fender tag expert Dan Pausch that 1968 cars with a 7 for first letter or SO# seem to be special. Possibly press cars. He mostly has 69 and up info, but does collect 68 info too. But he only has 3-4 cars on record with 7xxxxx SO#'s. One is the 68 Hemi GTX convertible magazine car...

I don't think someone will be able to connect that block with this car, since it appears Chrysler removed the vin from the Mule car. If a car got a fender tag, it should have got a vin at some point prior. In High School, we got a fork lift smashed late 80's Camaro from the Van Nuys CA plant...

    Installing small cam in Stroker?

Ok that is a big difference. I wouldn't have imagined they would call that much compression difference a fair comparison. And a 10.73:1 stroker motor with that bone stock cam isn't going to run a pump California 91 octane around here. The OP is starting out with a cam that seems a little...

    Installing small cam in Stroker?

2 tenths of a point ? That not much. How much HP and torque gain/loss are you attributing to 2 tenths of a compression? I think the original poster could go to a very slightly larger cam and have the same vacuum and idle characteristics as the smaller cam in the shorter stroke and size motor.
