    Flex plate choice ???

I guess it's possible the flex plate just met the end of its lifespan. I find it incredibly difficult to believe all four ears gave up basically at the same time.

I’m starting to wonder on the carb too.. I sprayed around the base of the carb and where the intake meets the heads and didn’t find any noticeable leaks. I’ll check the back port when I have more daylight and confirm it’s not a ported source. On the curb idle should I just put another turn into...

That's a lot of good parts. Can you post some photos?? I'd like to see the finished product. Also, is there a question in there somewhere, or is this a welcome post? Maybe @toolmanmike can move it to the appropriate section. At 71, you're just a young buck compared to some others here.

Diesel and v10 share the same bell housing bolt pattern which will not bolt up to a small block Chrysler. They are essentially the same trans, expect for some springs in the valve body, and in the RH, the governor valves.

Sounds to me like you’re either using the wrong port on the carb or the carb base plate is cracked allowing vacuum where it shouldn’t be. A true ported vacuum gets its source from above the throttle blades and has zero vacuum until the throttles are opened.

I loved American Flyer S gauge trains !!!! They were so much more realistic than the more popular Lionel O gauge. I had one where you could put 3 n 1 oil in and it would blow smoke out of the stack.

So with the vacuum can disconnected I settled at 10 degrees initial, it’s a bit back from rough running and a bit higher than sounding lazy. Idle is stuck around 500-550rpm, mix screws are 2 turns out and I had to put a turn and a half into the idle speed screw. Vacuum on the gauge has a little...
