    Shopping list

I actually went last Friday and picked up this pile of 383 stuff and thinking to try my hand at a rebuild. Never done it before, but ought to be able to figure it out. I got the engine and tranny separated - need to go buy an engine stand today and continue on with the disassembly. [SOLD] - 383...

    273 or 225?

I really like the 64 Dodge B bodies. If I could find one with a 273 (or even a Poly 318) it would be perfect. I would dress the 273 up like a Hypo engine and never look back. (to use your phrase) I would wave at all the guys filling up their 440 cars every hour of driving. Meanwhile mine get's...

Ello. 72 Duster slant 6 sayin' hi!

Hey folks, I just picked up a slant 6 72 duster in great shape about 2 weeks ago. Received it with the intake and exhaust mid-repair so had to take a bit of work to get it back to turning the key. Previous owner was a super nice fella, offered to toss in a new grill, bunch of extra parts...

    66 Dart 360 Swap Questions

it really boils down to what your level of mechanical skill and resources are. if this is your first old car and first mopar, then it might be deep waters for you. not saying it can't be done, but without traveling that road previously you'll be out of your element. just doing up a motor can...

    1975 duster K member

Since you already have the conversion mounts, you'll be fine with another '73-'76 slant 6 K member. If you find a V8 K member, make sure you get the factory engine brackets with it to save yourself the trouble of hunting them down. It all comes down to where you find the best deal. Either...

    subframe connectors - when?

Thank you, great feedback. Yes, I'm familiar with the proper technique for installing the frame connectors. Also, I built the suspension for a V8 from the start, i.e., heavier torsion bars, 8 3/4 rearend, heavier leafs, front and rear swaybars, gusseted K frame, 15" rims, front power disk...

    74 duster slant 6 to 318 conversion

Kinda vague, but I'll try: Assuming the slant was an automatic (904), all the shift linkages and driveshaft should bolt right on. You should even be able to tweak the trans cooler lines to fit. Assuming the motor came out of a passenger car and not a truck/van, the oil pan should be okay...

    Zbar and Rod ID

The linkage rods are the same length for the slant and V8’s. Don’t cut them. As you showed in the 1st photo, and are pointing to from the manual, you have the upper rod. Was talking about the Z bar tube length, where 3/4 to an 1 inch could be removed from a /6 Z bar to “make” a V8 Z bar. The...

single turbo thread for an A Body

I have a remote mount turbo on my 3500 quad cab 8.1 Chevy dually. The turbo is under the bed of the truck. The piping is as long as you’d imagine it would be and there is almost no turbo lag. Sizing of the hot side and turbine are FAR more important than length of tubing. Back in the 70s I think...

    Gas tank support bracket

I got ya, I make assumptions based on my 67, but I try to get the info first, I'm not perfect. Like answering a slant 6 question based on V8 knowledge. Op did not point out that they were working on a slant but they posted the question in the slant 6 forum, I missed that little part  I...

Power steering and AC bracketry quandary

Just putting this in the post as an FYI to Dodgelad, Volaredon and anyone else interested. The single pulley slant six compressor clutch assembly is about impossible to find new. I am currently using a compressor with a dual pulley v8 compressor clutch on the slant in the D150. When mounted...

    Spool Conversion Mounts Available Again

Quick public service announcement for anyone who's been waiting on the spool style ('73+) slant to V8 conversion mounts. They are available again. I ordered these last week '73+ A, B, F, M, J-Body Slant 6 to 273/318 or 340/360 and they showed up today.

    Cheaper than dirt 318 build

Please quit repeating what you have read on the internet, I had a 5th ave 1985 no 302 heads or roller block. If the OP heard the engine run, best way to get the truck going on the cheap is to just drop the V8 in and feel the difference. It will not be huge, but not slant-sick powered, not...

350 hp out of a fairly stock 340

350 hp out of a fairly stock 340

I tend to agree, BUT you really touched on it that it doesn't take much for these little cars to GO, especially the early As. I'm continually impressed with Vixen's slant 6. I know it's not a V8 and never will be, but its torque curve is way different. That makes it very impressive. Even Kitty...

    What's a slant A727 weigh?

Figure on 1970 up with a aluminum body, case, for a 727 to fit behind a slant 6, in taxis, trucks, industrial usage. Before that an adapter was used behind the slant 6, to mate to a V8 727 transmission.

    Fitting a 26 inch radiator?

Still looking! I know I already did this sometime. Anyway, there are like 3 different radiators. There was an 18" radiator that only came with the slant 6's, a 22" radiator that came with V8's and AC slant six's, and the 26" radiator that came out for the 73+ V8 AC cars. I'm pretty sure...

    [WANTED] K-Frame

Your 74 will have the spool type motor mounts. You need a 73+ V8 K frame. The only two options were slant six and V8 K frame so any v8 K from an A body will work. You could install an earlier K but would have to get the matching motor mounts. Does your car have a front sway bar?

    V/8 Swap

I have a pet chicken for sale for $35,000. Is that a good price?? It is compared to the one the neighbor is asking $40000 for. But everything is worth more in Texas ya know. My opinion of buying a "restored" classic car co. somewhat resembles my desire to buy a car from the new car...

    Slant 6 727 Transmission

Can you post a picture of the trans. As far as I know the slant six 727 wasn't available until about 1968 (might be off one year). That trans did not have cable shift, or B&T flange. As you are aware, prior to the SS 727, Chrysler used the small block 727 with the adapter. PS: Thinking about it...
