    Decoding fender tag

The U means it was built to USA specifications (emissions, safety, etc). The car might have been built in Canada but was made to USA requirements since it was to be sold in the USA. Much like a lot of Chryslers that were built in the USA plants but made to Canadian standards. Those would say C.

The buyer almost certainly need to add in the cost of tearing it down/rebuilding it if it’s been sitting for decades.

    GOLD DUSTER first year??

Is this a trick question? If you know it’s not 70 or 71 why not ask if it was 72 or 73? Seems like a fishing expedition.

    1972 Front Disc Brake Conversion

If you go with large bolt pattern wheels up front you will also want to change to large bolt pattern on the rear. If not, you gotta ask yourself “is my spare in the trunk gonna be a large bolt pattern or small bolt pattern rim?”

It’s difficult to read but is your Dart Sport a 360? Not a common engine that year….

The newest one will still be 16 years old. Would it be as a daily driver? You have a particular one in mind already? High mileage? SRT version?

Which years had 100 or 120 mph speedometers?

Based on a parts for sale thread put up today, the 100mph Speedo was available as early as the 72 model year. So both a 100mph and 120mph were offered until 75 at which point it was only 100mph.

[FOR SALE] Misc 73-76 interior goodies

Cluster #1 is a 1976 model year since it’s black instead of a woodgrain bezel. Cluster #2 is from 1972 to 1974. The one idiot light started sometime through the 1972 model year and in 1975 a second idiot light was added.

Which years had 100 or 120 mph speedometers?

I’ve got a 75 Scamp and it has a 100mph speedo. The 1975 parts book doesn’t list a 100 or a 120mph speedo so for sure by 75 it was only 100mph. Likely had something to do with Nixon signing a bill in 74 to help reduce fuel consumption? Question now is if 100mph speedos were available before...

    [Found!] Air cleaner for a 1974 Swinger, 318 2bbl.

Looks like a few have already posted pictures. The air cleaner in post #13 looks like a twin to the air cleaner my 75 318 came with.

Help me buy an $80,000 car

It doesn’t matter what the dealership knows about the value of the car. They are going to sell it for the highest price possible. If some sucker comes in there and offers $70k or $75k for it, they are likely to say sold! Doesn’t matter if it’s only worth $35k. As long as an uninformed person...

Help me buy an $80,000 car

Sadly some sucker, who isn’t knowledgeable on B bodies or older cars in general, is going to shake out something close to $80k and buy that Charger. There’s a reason why/how dealerships (and even some private sales) have a high asking price on not so common vehicles.

    [Found!] Air cleaner for a 1974 Swinger, 318 2bbl.

I’m not aware of 2bbl dual snorkel air cleaners existing but then you can fill a warehouse full of stuff I don’t know. Check out this website for more info: Nick's Garage - Air Cleaner Identification Perhaps your 318 has been upgraded to a 4bbl already? The opening at the base of the air...

    Scamp "Special" vs Scamp base

By 1976 the A body was nearing the end of the production run so to keep buyers interested they came out with a base model of the 2 door hardtop and called it a Scamp Special. Aside from trim and what came standard, there was no difference between the two models (Scamp and Scamp Special). For...

    Any Jeep technicians out there?

As others suggested, consider disabling the start stop feature. Then no more warning/alerts! Anything starting and stopping on a repetitive basis means wear and eventual trouble long term. In your case, long term is 5 years!

My plans for my 69 Dart Swinger 340

Don’t go for the air shocks. The upper shock mounts are not designed to take/support the weight of the back half of the car. The leaf spring mounts are designed to take the weight of the back half of the car. Just get your existing rear spring re-arched or new springs with a higher arch.

Cooper Cobra vs BFG Ta's on 2nd gen cuda

Wow that’s old school! The Scamp was rolling on Eagle ST’s from 1993 to 2009 which were replaced with BFG’s until 2024 and is now rolling on Cooper’s. In fact, my spare tire is still an Eagle ST that I had swapped onto the spare steelie rim when I had the BFG’s installed.

Squeeling V belt and CVF alternator

It’s not going to help much but it could be the belt and a different belt and/or cleaning the pulley and belt might help? I didn’t have squealing from either my PS belt or alternator belt but replaced both since they had been on for quite a while. Thought preventative maintenance was a good...

    Anyone know anything about Subarus?

Very well said. It was sold cheap for a reason!! Your comment about ‘all it needs is a carb to run well’ is something all of us on this forum understand. It’s almost never that simple or else the seller would have done that to increase his asking price. Subaru's (similar to VW’s) have a cult...
