Help me buy an $80,000 car

I know, I'm seeing a different color diff, and trans fluid leak on the undercarraige. It sounds like a baby cam but the ac compressor is there with no condenser etc. Also some strategically sprayed undercoating as well as overspray under the rockers and rear valance. Just seeing if there anything else I've missed.

Appreciate you taking a look and pointing those things out. I know pics can hide a lot.
Look at all the pictures where they have the flexible ruler. They are pointing out defects. Honest of them, but still it's too much money for that car, IMO. Now........if it had the original drive train in this same condition, then I say yeah, now it might be worth it.

Are you talking about the original 318? I'd rather have a 440. I wouldn't spend 80k for ANY car with a 318 in it.
Well, maybe a Dual Ghia or something......

No I am hypothetically saying IF it was a real 440 car and IF it had the original one there.

Looks like an older resto. There are pics where the paint looks like it could use a good buff. Back bumper is crooked. Both bumpers are dented. That back lower pass side lower valance to quarter corner is wanky. Looks like you'll find mud in the lower quarters by the door. Add-on gages under the dash. Paint on trim screws. Paint on wiring. Check that drivers side rocker lap where the quarter meets. For starters.

Overall not a bad car. Just sayin' why my $80k ain't buying it.

Thank you for your observations. Looking for my retirement present to myself and there is no redo.

Here's an example of a NICE car. It's not a Mopar, and it's not a muscle car. I don't know what it's worth. It was in a museum for 61 years and looks almost new! It'll have issues as a result of sitting for so long, but it's nice. I just happen to see it on that site. I like dreaming. lol
6k Original Miles! 1963 Chevrolet Impala

These Chargers sure ain't getting any cheaper, and $80k is a fair price for a really nice non original car.

I think this is a little more worth the money even though it needs some refining.

And this one has more going for it even though it has issues.

Lastly, if I'm spending your $80k , I'm buying this one and spending the remaining $20k on whatever engine rebuild or swap your heart desires.

This 68-70 Charger market is insane.

A non R/T 69 Charger, solid CA car, new interior, new 440?, etc, BUT with patina worn out dark green paint that’s clear coated over…

Just sold at Mecum for $77K

No doubt! $20k is getting you a vin tag and some scrap metal. $40k is a sad fixer-upper.
But, a quick search for '69 Darts shows $50k avg for a nicely restore 340 car. Glad I got my cars when I did.

Now that patina green charger has all kind of social media marketing.

And it’s an auction.

So buy private sale and pay lot less

bunched up janky headliner? that's an automatic fail on the DTM scale!

all kidding aside, i'll echo what others have said upthread: the market is super hot right now, and it's a good looking car, but i don't think it rates 80K. especially not as bread and butter 318 car that's been upgraded. there's a bunch of stuff that looks tired and not necessarily neglected but just looked over.

Not sure when painted but looks like no underside work was done going on the surface rust, i would want it mint inside and out. Problem is how much filler is in it etc etc and a bog stock 318. I get it but at the same time i dont, paying 80k to be slower than a suzuki swift. Buy at your own risk unless u can find out the resto history etc

Why would a professional car dealer use a cell phone to take pics of a car, if it was a good car?

. Rear bumper is out of alignment, and dinged up. $55k would be a better price, then spend the money saved to fix it.

To think I sold my 70 Charger SE with 383 magnum / tic toc tach / 6 way seat / tow pkg /

Sadly some sucker, who isn’t knowledgeable on B bodies or older cars in general, is going to shake out something close to $80k and buy that Charger.

There’s a reason why/how dealerships (and even some private sales) have a high asking price on not so common vehicles.

******* app deleted half my post !
Any way … it was loaded and I sold it for $17k 9 years ago .
My first car .
Worse is the 69 R/T SE with every option including rear shoulder belts ( still have them ..in my Dart now) that I parted out in 86. PW / 6 way seat / ac/ rear defrost / tic toc tach / b7 blue with black top ….

looks like the bait add(s) I reply to only to find out what they are looking for is a deposit you will never see again.....because they have hijacked a 5 year old add and they do not have the "too good l to be true" priced car.

I could be wrong, just ask my wife.....
