Big Block power with better heads???

I agree it would be cheaper to do Chevy all the way. Can not deny that what so ever. I think that if the block retains things such as distributor location water pump style, deep skirted block and oiling system it might not hurt a Mopar guy as much in the feelings Dept to try vs going full blown...

Big Block power with better heads???

The advantage lies in the heads really, you don't have a lot of selection of hemi heads these days as well. its either full tilt way to big of a head and then the price tag or some ok heads at best. With chevy heads, there is so much development already and used parts are everywhere, plus dollar...

Big Block power with better heads???

I wish that were the answer, but with those four little letters the price always seems to go through the roof. This is all geared towards being affordable for the average guy who wants to go fast but still have the distributor up front.

Big Block power with better heads???

Well unless its a fuel application, it is cheaper to build a chevy and make more power then a hemi. Even to go through all of this it would be cheaper, this is thought up to make affordable horsepower that you just can not make with a wedge and with a hemi it can get down right stupid money.

Big Block power with better heads???

Well this is def something that does not have a street market appeal. We are looking more at a race set up. I feel that it could be done cheaper than a hemi if it is engineered correctly. That will be the trick of the entire project, to be able to use the least amount of custom parts possible...

Big Block power with better heads???

I can agree with your logic sir I really can, the problem with designing a head, there is so much more that goes into that and when its all said and done, there is still no block to bolt it too. It would not be easy for sure, but wanted to throw the idea out there.

Big Block power with better heads???

Yes this would be here in the states, just like Dart and World. Thank you for your input sir.

Big Block power with better heads???

Yes sir that is correct, change the lifter bore angles and the bore spacing as well as the bolt pattern for the heads. Come up with an intake combination or adapter that will work and it all sounds so easy lol. But essentially try to make something that can be built at a chevy price and make...

Big Block power with better heads???

This is very true, also a lot of guys fail to realize that their rod journals are big block chevy. In the world of pro stock they are Honda rod journals. I mean we love to be different, this is part of the reason for this idea but I firmly believe that if done properly no one person would...

Big Block power with better heads???

Well there are inherently a few obstacles. Honestly the idea came up because the lack of blocks available to begin with. That being said we have 14k wrapped up in two blocks for a couple of customers that bit the bullet and we pulled the trigger on a pair of BMP blocks. Don't get me wrong, they...

Big Block power with better heads???

Thanks man, we are really close to having the 8.50 index figured out. This year we will be giving them hell. Johns car is one bad *** piece for a tiny engine. I keep telling him when he is ready to make it run we will put a BBM in it and he always laughs at me.

Big Block power with better heads???

Thank you for the kind words sir. Like I said this is a touchy subject and I can hear the chevy guys bragging about using their heads, but at the end of the day, with the high performance stuff built anymore, little to nothing is used that came out of any of the big three's doors, we feel its...

Big Block power with better heads???

Eh, Morphodite would be a pretty good way to put it lol. Bore spacing would be one advantage for sure. I only considered doing a block for two reasons. One you cant get a block right now to save your life unless its aluminum. Two all the big companys have done the work for us with heads. Blocks...

Big Block power with better heads???

The cam would not be an issue really, with custom cams and pistons being the norm even in bracket racing these days it becomes a wash. The benefit in our opinion would be a far greater selection of cylinder heads as well as a large amount of better heads. Be it they are new or used, options for...

Big Block power with better heads???

Actually these days, BBM's are down compared to BBC's. They are easier to make power out of. Hemi to BBC is another story, but a wedge engine these days can not hang with a BBC and that is something I was interested in fixing.

Big Block power with better heads???

While I would agree with you up to a certain power level, as Mopar guys we do not share the same luxuries that the brand x guys do. Now at the end of the day it would not be a BBC head, it would be a BB3 head from Brodix for example. We don't currently have a head that will stay with a BBC head...

Big Block power with better heads???

I appreciate your stance on this sir, no offense is taken. I personally am a Mopar guy myself, but I see a lot of issues making big power with a wedge head. You can always build a hemi for sure, but that is usually out of someones price range. I think it would be a great idea and yes it will...

Big Block power with better heads???

So guys, I have a great question for you, going to test the waters. We have recently submitted a paten to cast a new block for the Mopar world. This is only an idea right now and the engineering is under way so some feedback would be great. We lack good cylinder heads to keep up with big block...

Fullbore71, Well what you seem to be thinking is not to far off. As far as bigger is always better, well that depends on the heads you will run. Remember it is an air pump and you have to be able to feed it. Im not apposed to bigger by any means what so ever. Tom Molnar at Molnar Technologies...

Build me a 800hp NA 512 b block using pump gas

Fullbore71, you sound like you have the same problem my father had when I built his engine. There are so many more choices out there then say 10 years ago. The rpm heads def can make the power. There is some work involved with that though. We have them on my fathers 499 and he made 789@6600 on...

I wanted to take a second and introduce myself. My name is Don Ryan. I am the co owner of an engine shop named Crutchybilt Performance out of North East MD. I have always cruised the site in the past but never became a member until now. I would hope that I could score cool parts for our cars and...

Build me a 800hp NA 512 b block using pump gas

Hey guys, I am new on here but not new to this world. I own an engine shop in MD called Crutchybilt Performance. Just two of us, my partner John and I. I figured I would chime in here if I could. Depending on how deep in the 9's you want to go and what the car really weighs 750-800 should get...
